60'' Wizard Walking Staff

This unique, rustic diamond willow wood walking stick is made strong for daily use or hiking trips, yet also great as a warlock, druid or magic witch costume prop. Makes a great cane substitute, too.

HAND GRIP LOCATION and GIRTH: Please see notes below and on photos for info about optimal grip location. And remember that cutting a few inches off the bottom will move the grip location down, as well; and also, adding a rope wrapped hand grip would make it 1/4'' thicker so it's more comfy for bigger hands.

HAS CURVES: This walking staff has several curves, making it extra intriguing, but the stick stands straight for the most part (comes back to center) and works great. (I use one all the time and can verify that crooked hiking sticks work great and have marvelously charming character.)

....UNLESS we cut a few inches off the bottom (then that would move the optimal hand grip position down the same nmbr of in.).

NATURAL MARKINGS

No stains, paints or colors added__just fives coats of clear poly finish. The natural colors are spectacular, looking so much better in person than I'm able to capture with photos.

DIAMONDS:
Covered with an exceptional array of diamonds, with all sorts of wonderful twisting curves and a variety of tan, caramel, dark brown and reddish brown colors.

This stick has a few particularly deep diamonds (difficult to capture in photos) that are beautiful alone, and perfect for embedding stones or charms into them, if you wish.

RAILING:
Has highly coveted, unique and rare semi_railing effect, where the diamonds become one with the wood and twist and turn the wood due to spalding/spalting.

Some "diamonds" even stick out like an ear, where you could pinch both sides, and maybe lace or pierce something through them.

INSECT MARKINGS:
Has a few insect and/or worm hole markings on this stick. Worm and other insect markings are actually coveted, as they are more rare than diamonds themselves. They help create a unique design, character to the stick, and add another dimension to the story of how efficient nature works. The worms or insects have long disappeared since I dry my sticks for several months, then sand and coat with poly.

This is a OOAK (one of a kind) unique piece with great character.

This unique, rustic wooden walking stick in the first few photos is the one you will get.

Sustainably harvested and handcrafted by me, a local, experienced woodcraftsman in northern Minnesota, USA.

This walking staff is a OOAK (one of a kind) item made from native northern Minnesota diamond willow tree, and handcrafted by me, a local, experienced artisan.

I use a walking cane DAILY (or hiking staff for woods trompsing), and have had the same hiking staff and cane for several years, and I take pride in making sure you get a beautiful, strong and sturdy walking staff to last for many years!

WE CAN SHORTEN, at no charge. We'll happily cut it down for you. Just let us know the length you want. Measure twice and we'll cut once (then sand and coat with clear poly).

SIZE GUIDE: For FLAT terrain, or rolling hills and groomed trails, a walking staff should be about 4-6" above the elbow, or a few inches below the shoulder. For HILLY terrain, a stick that's shoulder height or even a few inches above the shoulder is often preferred to help when descending.

ABOUT MAX WEIGHT: 250-300 lbs.?

This could maybe hold more weight, but I'm just guessing at wt. limit. I'm "only" 200 lbs. and test each stick just by trying to bend it to make sure it's sturdy.

This one does bend just a little if I push hard on it, so it's not meant to be a crutch you lean on all the time. And no pole vaulting! ;) That way it will work great as a hiking or walking aid for many years!

IF YOU NEED A STICK THAT WILL HOLD MORE WEIGHT: Please message us and let us know the weight limit you need, and your height. I'd be happy to guide you toward sticks in our shop that are thicker, OR we most likely have one such stick in stock but just haven't listed it yet. Or I could cut a few inches off a walking stick you like, as that always makes it stronger.

DISCLAIMER: Since this is wood, and we're not a factory, I make no guarantees about the future condition of this walking stick, but CAN GUARANTEE it was strong without any large cracks when I harvested, cured, coated, listed, and packed it for shipping after it sells, inspecting it at each step along the way. However, PLEASE INSPECT ALL YOUR EQUIPMENT before each use to make sure no cracks or weaknesses have developed over time. Stay safe!

HAND GRIP

Grip will be 5-6'' in length, and made of 550 paracord that can be removed if needed for emergency survival uses.

HOW CORD GRIP ADDED:
__ cord is simply wrapped on top of itself without knots, tightened on top of initial and ending strands
__ sometimes I put a small stud on the top and bottom ends to help hold them in place
__ wrapped grip is then given several coats of wood hardener on top of the paracord until it's soaked and coated good
__ yes, you can untie the paracord and use it--it will just be a little stiff at first

BENEFITS OF WOOD HARDENER__on paracord:
__ protect from snags and wear n tear of cord
__ helps keep wrap from slipping out of place
__ helps with grip, not as slippery under sweat or rain and mist
__ won't get dirty as much or absorb your sweat as much
__ is warmer to grip than cold wood

WRIST STRAP

Paracord braid width is approx. 5/8"-6/8". Strap is approx. 12-14 in. when open, and 6-7 in. when closed, with extra long tassels you can cut yourself after you adjust to fit.

The wrist strap is made of about 15-18 ft. of 550 paracord (or ~10 ft. of braided suede leather if you message me).

SUEDE LEATHER STRAP is for WRIST STRAPS ONLY, but NOT for hand grips. [PLEASE NOTE: It's not in the drop down menu so folks don't think they can get a leather handgrip.]

YOU MUST MESSAGE ME ASAP if you want a leather wrist strap. After you select the color HANDGRIP you want from the drop down menu when you make the purchase, then let me know via message what color suede leather you want for the wrist strap. HOW WRIST STRAP ADDED
__ hole drilled, sanded and then coated with clear poly
__ lanyard threaded through hole and tied loosely (so you can easily untie and adjust it before you tighten the knots for good).
