2️⃣ When ordering this upgrade, select from the drop down menu according to the number of characters in the message or name you want engraved (not including spaces or regular punctuation)
3️⃣ Type what you want engraved in the appropriate box Etsy gives you as you are ordering (the box will be obvious when it appears).

NOTE:
♦ QUOTATION MARKS: Do not put quotation marks or any punctuation unless you want those marks engraved, as well.
♦ CAPITAL LETTERS: I'll capitalize what you capitalize, so type it exactly how you want it.
♦ BONUS: FREE STANDARD PUNCTUATION like commas, quote marks, exclamation points, etc, are FREE. (Excessive, 'unusual' punctuation is a different story.)

NOTE: I like to put it where & how it will look best on the stick, since the area where an engraving can be placed is different on each stick, but if you have a preference, I will accommodate when possible, and keep open communication so you can easily share your preference and I'll let you know how I plan to proceed beforehand.

HOW ENGRAVING IS DONE

♦ PLEASE SEE PHOTOS for examples of the style of engraving you're getting.
♦ Letters are usually 3/4'', as shown in the first few photos. Sometimes they're smaller, sometimes larger. We will try to do 3/4'' whenever possible, but it depends on the size of the stick, size of the message and what the stick calls for.
♦ We use a wood burner dremel tool so your permanent message gives a striking, dark, burnt contrast to the surrounding wood. Some sanding may be involved. It's then given a coating of clear polyurethane afterwards, to match the rest of the stick.
♦ This is not done by a machine like many engravers use, but is done by hand (by my wife) so you'll have that "handmade look" that shows that you carefully thought about this gift, as opposed to a "just picked up at the last minute at the corner store on the way home" kinda gift--showing there was thought, time and heart put into it.
♦ My wife uses a font she's come up with herself over the years in her decades of making greeting cards, using skills she learned in a typography class from eons ago.
♦ After the message is engraved, we cover the engraving with several coats of clear poly.
