A very unique diamond willow wood hiking staff with gorgeous, natural colors in its wooden diamonds, plus many extra rare markings from nature's insect creatures. Unusually straight for this type of wood, and very thin and lightweight, but strong and sturdy.

Perfect for adults of shorter than avg. stature, or big kids.

Great for hiking or camping trips, as well as every day use as a walking cane substitute.

NOTE: Maximum weight limit for end user is 150 lbs. See note below.

GIRTH: Hand grip girth is best for adults who wear XS to Med work or winter gloves. Not recommended for XL hands.

HAS CURVES: This walking staff has a few curves, making it extra intriguing, but the stick stands straight for the most part and works great as a hiking staff or walking cane.

UPGRADES: We can add Engraving or Wrist Strap. Engraving may add 1-2 days to processing time, depending on length. Please see upgrades section below.

This walking staff is a OOAK (one of a kind), handcrafted item made from native northern Minnesota diamond willow tree, and handcrafted by me, a local experienced artisan.
__ Sustainably harvested in northern MN.
__ Main bark removed by hand.
__ Dried/cured for several months, naturally by air
__ Meticulously sanded.
__ Given 5 coats of clear polyurethane.
__ Comes with new black rubber protector boot.

I use a cane or hiking staff DAILY, and have had the same hiking staff and cane for several years, and I take pride in making sure you get a beautiful, strong and sturdy walking staff to last for many years!

BOTTOM: Comes with a brand new ferrule rubber cane tip.

CAN BE SHORTENED. We'll happily cut it down for you, free of charge. Just let us know the length you want. Measure twice and we'll cut once. Then I sand and coat the end with more clear poly.

TO GET THE RIGHT SIZE: As a general rule, hiking sticks should be about shoulder height, or 6_8" above the bend in the elbow. But preferences vary. Measure while wearing your regular walking shoes.

This can probably hold more weight, but I wouldn't want to guarantee that. I'm 200 lbs. and test each stick to make sure it's sturdy and doesn't bend much, but I can't test for much more weight than I am myself; HOWEVER, this is a solid, sturdy staff.

IF YOU NEED A STICK THAT WILL HOLD MORE WEIGHT: Please message us and let us know the weight limit you need. I'd be happy to guide you toward sticks in our shop that are thicker, or we most likely have one such stick in stock but just haven't listed it yet. Or I could cut a few inches off a walking stick you like, as that always makes it more stronger.

NATURAL MARKINGS

No stains, paints or colors added__just fives coats of clear poly finish.

The natural colors are spectacular, looking so much better in person than I'm able to capture with photos.

DIAMONDS:
Covered with a few naturally occurring wooden diamonds, with a variety of tan, caramel, dark brown and reddish brown colors.

INSECT MARKINGS:
Has a few insect and/or worm hole markings on this stick. Worm and other insect markings are actually coveted, as they are more rare than diamonds themselves. They help create a unique design, character to the stick, and add another dimension to the story of how efficient nature works.The worms or insects have long disappeared since I dry my sticks for several months, then sand and coat with poly.

Natural jute rope has been wrapped around the top of this hiking staff, then had stray strings burned off, then it was coated with clear poly to glue it in place, and then it was sanded down to remove rough parts.

Very comfy to hold!

WRIST STRAP

Note re: paracord: paracord wrist strap not available for this stick since a bigger hole needs to be drilled for it and this stick is too thin for such a big hole since I don't want to compromise its integrity and sturdiness.

Strap is approx. 13 in. when open, and 6 in. when closed, with extra long tassels you can cut yourself after you adjust to fit. Some people add charms or beads to the tassels, or just leave them plain.

The wrist strap is made of about 10 ft. of jute rope or genuine suede leather (choose from down menu at checkout).

IMPORTANT--PLEASE READ:
I sometimes begin processing such requests immediately, so MESSAGE me ASAP to let me know:

(1) LENGTH: If you prefer a different STRAP LENGTH, let me know ASAP. No extra charge. (My default wrist strap length is 5-6" when closed, or 12-14 inches when open.)

(2) WHERE you want it (ie, above or below hand grip, distance from ground up, or from top of staff--however you prefer to measure).

HOW IT'S BRAIDED
My wife braids the jute or soft, strong suede leather with a simple braid of three strands.

HOW WRIST STRAP ADDED
__ hole drilled in hiking staff or walking cane, sanded and then coated with clear poly
__ lanyard threaded through hole and tied loosely (so you can easily untie and adjust it)
