♦ ALL NATURAL: No stains, paints or colors added--just 4-5 coats of clear poly finish. The natural colors are spectacular, looking so much better in person than I'm able to capture with photos.
♦ DIAMONDS: Covered with an exceptional array of natural wooden diamonds 💎 with all sorts of wonderful twisting curves and a variety of tan, caramel, dark brown and reddish brown colors.
♦ SILKY COLORATIONS: is the term I used for this extra rare 🦄 🦄 natural marking effect. It just reminds me of rough silk, though I've only seen is a few times in all our diamond willow experience.
♦ SPALTED RAILING: Has highly coveted, unique and rare 🦄 semi_railing effect, where the diamonds become one with the wood and twist and turn the wood due to spalding/spalting. In fact, this one is so twisted, the diamonds turn the wood almost flat instead of round a the bottom half of this stick.
♦ SOME PROTRUDING...Some "diamonds" even stick out like an ear, where you could pinch both sides, and maybe lace or pierce something through them.
♦ INSECT MARKINGS: Has several/a few insect and/or worm hole markings on this stick.
♦ Worm and other insect markings are somewhat rare 🦄 and are actually coveted, as they help create a unique design, character to the stick, and add another dimension to the story of how efficient nature works. 🦗🦟🐛
♦ The worms or insects have long disappeared, usually before I harvest or for sure 💯 during/after I dry my sticks INSIDE OUR HOME 🏡 for several months, then sand and coat with poly.

This walking staff is a OOAK (one of a kind) item made from native northern Minnesota diamond willow tree, and handcrafted by Tim P., a local, experienced artisan.
♦ Sustainably harvested in northern MN.
♦ Main bark removed by hand.
♦ Dried/cured naturally by air for a minimum of several months, though often much longer
♦ Meticulously and lovingly sanded to reveal nature's beauty
♦ Given 4-5 coats of clear polyurethane.

Hubby uses a walking cane DAILY (or hiking staff for woods trompsing), and has had the same hiking staff and cane for several years. He takes pride in making sure you get a beautiful, strong and sturdy walking staff to last for many years!

SIZE GUIDE

♦ As a GENERAL rule, hiking sticks should be about shoulder height...give or take a few inches.
♦ For FLAT terrain, or rolling hills and groomed trails, a walking staff should be about 4-6" above the elbow, or a few inches below the shoulder.
♦ For HILLY terrain, a stick that's shoulder height or even a few inches above the shoulder is often preferred to help when descending.
♦ But Preferences vary
♦ Sooo...if you've never had a walking stick, try practicing on a broom stick (while wearing 👞🥿walking shoes) to see what height stick feels comfortable first AND where your preferred 🖐handgrip location would be.

NOTE: Size guide for canes is that the handle be approx. elbow height, give or take an inch or two either way.

✨ WE CAN SHORTEN, at no charge. We'll happily cut it down for you. Just let us know the length you want. Measure 2️⃣ twice and we'll cut once (then sand and coat with clear poly).

♦ This could maybe hold more weight, but we're just guessing at wt. limit. Pa is "only" ~180 lbs. and tests each stick just by trying to bend it to make sure it's sturdy.
♦ Most of our walking sticks have a weight limit of 350 lbs. but since this has some crooks in it, and is a tad thin in some of the twisted wood areas, we're being cautious with the guestimate.
♦ THIS STICK does bend just a little if you push REALLY hard on this, so it's not meant to be a crutch you lean on ALL the time. And no pole vaulting! ;) That way it will work great as a hiking aid for many years!

🐞 ENGRAVING NOTE: Engraving MAY ADD AN EXTRA 1-3 DAYS processing, sometimes more if it's a super lot of characters to engrave. It all just depends on length of engraving and our schedule.

WRIST STRAP

♦ Strong, braided wrist straps are made of 550 paracord, soft genuine leather suede or braided jute rope.
♦ Suede is a THINNER strap, just 2/8'' - 3/8'' wide, and the 550 Paracord lanyard is THICKER at approx. 3/4''-7/8'' wide.
♦ Strap is made of 8-10 ft of cord, suede or jute and is approx. 13 in. when open, and 6 in. when closed, with extra long tassels you can cut yourself after you adjust to fit.
♦ Some people add charms or beads to the tassels, or just leave them plain.

🐞 PLEASE MESSAGE ME ASAP after purchase to tell me WHERE you want Pa to drill the hole and attach the wrist strap...ABOVE OR BELOW HAND GRIP?

BENEFITS OF A WRIST STRAP
♦ When positioned above handgrip, the strap gives you something to hold onto to help pull yourself up, or just extra leverage when nordic trekking, helping you conserve energy
♦ Ensures you don't drop your hiking staff if you lose your grip
♦ Allows you to let go of your walking stick without dropping it if you need to use your hand for something else
♦ Hang your hiking pole or walking cane on a coat hook when you get indoors
♦ You could cut or untie the strap (but not too easily) and use it for many camping/survival uses (too many uses to list here). Paracord has 7 inner strands that are very useful, as well.

HOW IT'S BRAIDED
♦ Pa braids the paracord lanyard with a loose sinnet cobra knot made of 4 strands of cord (4 strands in tassel). Ends are slightly burned after cutting to seal them, so inner strands of paracord don't ride up, or so poly doesn't unravel.
♦ Ma braids the soft, strong, brown suede leather with a simple braid of three strands (6 strands in tassel).

HOW WRIST STRAP ADDED
♦ Hole drilled, sanded and then coated with clear poly
♦ Lanyard threaded through hole and tied loosely (so you can easily untie and adjust it before you tighten the knots for good).

SUEDE LEATHER SPECS:

♦ Material: GENUINE real leather, soft suede
♦ Cord Width: approx. 1/16" for each strand (before braided)
♦ Braid width: approx. 2/8"-3/8" (about HALF as thick as paracord wrist strap)

♦ The cord hand grip is made of about 15 ft. of 550 paracord rope that can be removed if needed for emergency survival uses__although it might be a little stiff at first since I coated it with wood hardener. It becomes more pliable shortly after you handle it a bit, though.

♦ after clear coating dries, cord is simply wrapped without knots, tightened on top of initial and ending strands
♦ sometimes I put a small stud on the top and bottom ends to help hold them in place
♦ wrapped grip is then given several coats of wood hardener on top of the paracord until it's soaked and coated good
♦ yes, you can untie the paracord and use it--it will just be a little stiff at first

Since this is wood, and we're not a factory, I make no guarantees about the future condition of this walking stick, but CAN GUARANTEE it was strong without any large cracks when WE harvested, cured, coated, listed, and packed it for shipping after it sells, inspecting it at each step along the way.

PLEASE INSPECT ALL YOUR EQUIPMENT before each use to make sure no cracks or weaknesses have developed, since wood does change over time.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

♦ Bring it inside when you're not using it, and maybe wipe dirt or water off of it with a dry cloth or damp cloth if needed....when you can.
♦ Being left outside for a little while every now and then is no big deal. I've had the same stick I use daily for many years, and I leave it out sometimes--just not too often.
♦ These are made for the outdoors, but the clear poly is not UV tolerant like marine epoxy.
♦ Should not be left in the sun or extreme heat or cold for days and weeks on end. Otherwise, the same thing will happen to your lovely walking stick that happens to wood furniture left outside in all sorts of weather.
♦ Just bring it indoors when not in use, and the 5 coats of poly I've put on will help protect your walking stick and help you keep it nice looking and useful for many years.
