This dishwasher safe Sharpie mug DIY was created by our crafts contributor, Shauna at Ella and Annie Magazine!
My kids and I decided to make mugs to add to their teacher survival kit gift baskets for back to school. What a great gift they turned out to be.
The paint bakes into the ceramic, so the design won't wash off, and they are perfectly safe to drink out of. Enjoy your coffee in your new mug!
Supplies: (We've added affiliate links. They don't cost you a thing, and help us bring you posts like this.)
- Oil based Sharpie pens (about $3.50/pen)
- White mug ($1 at the Dollar Tree)
- Scrapbook stickers (if wanting a template for a monogram)
Follow the directions on your oil based Sharpie pens to get the ink flowing. Simply add small dots in each color to cover your “confetti” mug. You can also make a polka dot heart using the same dot technique.
If you want to add a letter or image, place your scrapbook sticker on mug. Then add your dots around the sticker in your desired colors. Remove sticker when complete.
Place mugs on a baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Leave mugs in oven to cool. Make sure to use proper ventilation was cooking mugs.
There you have it! Your own personalized mugs.
These mugs are dishwasher safe and make fabulous gifts or party favors.
