What came first? The chicken or the egg
ByParty Recap
What came first, the chicken or the egg?
My friend Jade has chickens and the most adorable chicken coop. I am always thinking of party ideas so when she told me she was getting new baby chicks I told her I was throwing them a welcome home celebration! She didn’t believe me until I showed her the rooster cups and egg yolk napkins I purchased to use! The colorway was planned to match the coop and chickens; light blue, yellow, white and black.
I am firm believer that every party needs a pun. TLC’s song Creep inspired my handmade burlap banner that says “so I peep yeah.” Get the tune in your head and ask yourself “does the chicken or the egg come first? I don’t know, so I creep yeah! I mean I peep yeah!” If it’s too far of stretch you’ll enjoy the other details of this spring chicken party I promise! I mean, there were real baby chicks and chickens there!
We were so appreciative of the most gorgeous sunny spring weather for party day. Because we wanted to enjoy the treats while hanging out with the chickens we went with a boho picnic style table. Guests sat on jute rugs around a DIY crate and antique wood shutter table.
The table was adorned with a white floral arrangement and modern circle black and white grid plates that matched the trim on the coop door. The place settings were completed with egg yolk napkins, rooster cups and cocktail cutlery tied with blue chiffon ribbon. The table runner included candy peeps being hatched out of plastic white eggs.
Party favors included egg chalk. To dress up the clear egg container I modge podged a blue and gold napkin, tucked in yellow spray painted baby’s breath and tied chunky yarn in a bow. Styled on the coop steps with a framed baby chick printable.
Gourmet cupcakes from Dia Doce were dressed up with Rae Dunn peep peep chick baking cups and toppers. Other treats included lemonade with chiffon blue ribbon and popcorn in farm style snack bags on a rattan side table.
The backdrop included a balloon garland and yarn tassel garland along a galvanized metal fence with freshly planted flowers. Other details included a spring is here chicken pillow.
