Party Recap

My daughter’s 7th birthday theme was based on the Nifty 50's era. She had a Sock Hop @ The Soda Pop Shoppe party!

INVITATIONS: I made my own invitations using clipart pictures of popular things from the 50s. I used 50s theme address labels and stamps. The labels and stamps I personalized and bought from Zazzle.com. I enclosed black music note confetti in the invitations. I designed each guest envelop with a guitar or jukebox with music notes on front with their name filled out on a 50s theme label.

ATTIRE: My daughter took professional pictures in two outfits at two locations. The first one was a black and white polka dot halter dress accessorized with a red flower clip, black and white polka dot bracelet and a white beaded bracelet, red rose earrings with pearls attached, and red sparkling flats. Her second outfit was a white collar shirt with a purple poodle skirt. She wore a purple headscarf trimmed in black, purple hoop earrings, purple neck scarf, white cuff socks with a black poodle on the side, and black and white oxford shoes. At the party, she wore a white T-shirt with a jukebox, milkshake, and number 7 on the front with a black tutu embellished with a pink poodle. She wore white cuffed socks with a pink poodle on the side and her black and white oxford shoes.

Her little sister wore a pink and black and white checkered Car Hop outfit that I had made from a shop in Etsy.com. She had the matching ruffle socks and black and white Keds the resembled the Oxford Shoes. She also wore roller skates when she took pics with the birthday girl.

I wore a black and white polka dot tank top with a Pink Ladies jacket and the matching leggings with white cuffed socks. My oxford shoes were pink and black. My husband wore a T-shirt that read Daddy-O since 2010.

DECORATIONS: The entrance door was decorated with a 50’s door cover. For the photo backdrop, I used a black and white checkered tablecloth and taped it to the wall. The center of the checkered tablecloth was a personalized retro poster that read Welcome to Ka’Miyah’s 7th Sock Hop @ the Soda Pop Shoppe. I purchased an Elvis Presley Jail House Rock and a Pink Convertible cardboard photo prop and placed each one on the side of the backdrop.
I used pink or teal tablecloths on the tables. Each table had pink, black, or teal deli oval food baskets with black checkered sandwich wraps. There were balloons throughout the venue: pink, teal, black, and white with music notes. I used a 50’s tablecloth for the cake table. I decorated the cake table with poodle and guitar cookies and matching 50’s napkins and plates. There was also a matching sign the venue provided on the cake table that read Happy Birthday Ka’Miyah.

FOOD: I had the food catered in buffet style. The guests had hamburger sliders and French Fries with the buns placed in a basket. The lettuce and cheese were placed on platters. Condiments were set next to the drinks.

GAMES: The first game the guests played was Musical Chairs. The next game was Limbo.
The third game they played was Hand Jive Freeze Dance. Lastly, the guests played Pin the Hair Bow on the Poodle.

PARTY FAVORS: Girl Party Favors were the following: Tote bag, T-Shirt, cat eye glasses, inflatable guitar, polkadot scarf, ribbon necklace with pink charm, beaded necklace, ice cream bubble necklace, Soda Pop Shoppe Jelly Beans, jump rope, customized cd, and guitar ink pen.
Boy Party Favors were: Guitar tote-bag, guitar bubbles, inflatable guitar, guitar ink pen, T-Shirt, shades, Soda Pop Shoppe Jelly Beans, customized cd, retro switchblade comb, and Hot Wheels.

THANK YOU CARDS: As normal, I had to make the thank you cards correlate with the theme. I purchased these items from Etsy.com. I ordered some retro pink record cases made out of card stock and when you open it up, a record player pops up! The front of the thank you cards had a silhouette of a 50’s girl.
