Party Recap

As the owner of an event planning company I spend my days planning fabulous celebrations for my clients, so when it came time to celebrate my 30th I knew I wanted to do it in a big way. Choosing a theme was simple: I'm a child of the 90s and my love for the movie Clueless runs deep, so a Clueless-themed costume party was a must for this milestone birthday.

We brought the theme together with signage featuring Clueless quotes, I made glittered canvases with Clueless slogans and a friend lovingly hand painted sugar cookies to match the theme. Other 90s details included jazzed up VHS tapes, a mobile made of my favourite CDs and a 90s candy bar.

In addition to fun décor it was so great to see every guest embrace their favourite 90s persona. From Wayne & Garth to 90s grunge, The Spice Girls, Kriss Kross and even Mrs. Doubtfire, it was hard to pick a favourite. I went as Cher Horowitz from Clueless of course, in a yellow-plaid Partyskirt, knee-highs and all.

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

Retro refreshments like tortilla pinwheels were sophisticated when filled with strawberries, chevre, and balsamic, and stilton and bacon jam. Tomato and bocconcini skewers, Munchies mix and even homemade jalapeno poppers were an ode to my favourite 90s snack foods.

  • What People Drank

Drinks were playful yet decidedly adult. Spiked cranberry and orange punch, a keg of micro-brew beer and Gin and Juice jello shooters were a huge hit with guests.

  • Desserts

Clueless-themed sugar cookies in fun colours with hand drawn plaid and quotes from the movie were almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

  • Party Favors

A 90s themed candy bar with all the childhood classics: Nerds, strawberry marshmallows, Tootsie Roll Pops, sour keys, Pixie Stix, Fizz and more!

  • Activities / Games

No party is complete without a soundtrack and my favourite 90s hip hop had guests dancing all night long.

Hi! Where did you get your table signs from? Or what website did you use for them?
