We used a posterboard (cut to size) wrapped it to form the tube and taped it in place, then we taped it to a round cardboard cake plate. I created fringed crepe paper first and then wrapped them around the tube painstakingly. The top is where I cheated and just used red duct tape to cover and secure the wire hangar. In hindsight the pinata was virtually indestructible because of the posterboard. :) We ended up poking holes in various places to help the kids out. LOL.
