Party Recap

My youngest wanted to have a unique unicorn painting party, for her 8th birthday, but not at the local painting studios. I reserved a private room at Pizza Hut and turned it into an Africorn Art Studio Paint Gallery.

INVITATIONS: I made her invitations on 3x5 card stock using multiple and colorful art designs. I used colorful popsicle sticks and placed them behind the invitations, mirroring art easels. I designed the envelopes with paint splashes and wrote the guests name in the center.

ATTIRE: For the first photoshoot, pictures were taken downtown in front of different artwork. My daughter wore a black, sleeveless paint splatter dress with a black beret that displayed a paint palette on the front. She wore black low top Converse shoes with multiple colors on the rubber sidewall. She had on colorful beaded bracelets to match and her braids were adorned with different color hair jewelry. The second photoshoot was just as fun, only this time a “unicorn” was a feature in the photos. My daughter wore a pink, multicolor hi-low unicorn dress with a matching unicorn headband and birthday sash. She had on unicorn earrings and a pink beaded bracelet with a unicorn charm. Her Mary Jane shoes were pink glitter low heels.

At the party, she wore a metallic rainbow unicorn headband, a white airbrush unicorn shirt with Afro puffs and paint splashes around it. The shirt read Birthday Girl at the bottom. She had on art/unicorn colorful jewelry, skinny jeans, and Jojo Siwa Tye Dye hi tops. She also had a pink beret headband to switch out from the unicorn headband. Her sister had the exact shirt, but at the bottom, hers read Big Sis and the “i’” in both words were replaced with paintbrushes. She had on a purple beret and skinny jeans with purple and pink sneakers. I had the same Africorn airbrush shirt, but mine read Africorn Mom and I wore a black beret. Dad had on a black airbrush shirt with a unicorn dabbing. His shirt read Dabbin’ Dad.

DECORATIONS: I covered the tables with a plastic, paint splatter tablecloth. Each pre-drawn unicorn canvas was set on a black easel stand. Next to it was a paint palette with a no spill paint cup placed in the center. I put two different size paint brushes between the canvases and palettes. Personalized aprons with paint splatter on the front that read pARTy SQUAD and beret hats were placed on each chair, as well as rainbow marble balloons. The birthday girl had a unicorn on her apron and I used small, black gems to make the Afro puffs around the ears. Her apron also read pARTy SQUAD. Along with her apron, she had a #8 rainbow balloon on her chair.

I covered the cake table with a simple tablecloth that had colorful polka dots. A brightly colored balloon arch was placed over the table. Paint splash plates, cups, and napkins were scattered on the table. #8 paint splatter cookies and paint brush Rice Krispie Treats were on the plates. I had two decorative props to place on the table. The first one was a crayon bank with my daughter’s name on it that I purchased from Etsy. The second prop, I designed, was a mini chalk board and I put it on top of the easel. Below the mini chalk board was the Happy Birthday banner that I cut and attached it to the bottom of the easel. Each artist took photos in front of a multicolor balloon column that had a foil unicorn balloon on top.

FOOD: The artists had the choice of pepperoni pizza, sausage pizza, or cheese pizza with Sierra Mist or Pepsi. Later, they ate birthday cake, unicorn ice-cream; paint splash #8 cookies, and paint brush Rice Krispie Treats.

ACTIVITIES: Each artist painted pre-drawn unicorns on canvases and unicorn wooden cutouts.

PARTY FAVORS: The artists received: Pre-Drawn Unicorn Canvases; Wooden Unicorn Cut Outs; Beret Hats; pARTy Squad Aprons; Molding Clay; Cra-Z-Art Crayons; WATERcolors; Unicorn Horn Twisty Lollipop; and FunDip

THANK YOU CARDS: I ordered 4.5" x 5" paint palette thank you cards from Etsy. The thank you cards were made with card stock and had glitter paint splashes on the front. I gave the seller my wording and it was printed on the back on matte photo paper. I made the envelopes appear as paint brushes. I used different color construction paper and cut them in the shape of dripping paint and glued them to the front of the envelope. I cut brown construction paper into handles and glued them on the bottom of the envelope.

I ordered the aprons and purple beret hat from Etsy. The other beret hats I got from Oriental Trading Company.
