William's Army party

William requested an Army Party for his 8th Birthday. We held it at our local reserve with a stream, which set the scene for an awesome party. We even made a short video of our party. You can see it here: http://mykidsparty.nz/2018/02/15/army-party/.

• What People Ate

  We packed individual Kraft boxes with savoury scrolls, cheese, popcorn, strawberries, pretzels and chips. This made transporting food to the reserve easier too.

• What People Drank

  Personalised bottles of Army Water.

• Desserts

  The Dessert table had petite fudge, Army gummy men cupcakes, cool camo biscuits and ANZAC biscuits. These are a tradition here in New Zealand. New Zealand troops are called ANZACS and they ate these biscuits made from oats and golden syrup. We also had a few fun themed items like bombs.

• Party Favors

  We had an Enlistment Office where the boys each received an Army shirt, cap, bandana, bracelet, dog tag, tattoo and face paint. The guests also took home an Army satchel with an Army glow stick, camo paint and a camo aeroplane in it.

• Activities / Games

  We had a family member, who is in the Army, come and drill the guests to ensure they were ready to join the Army. They then kitted up in their Army gear before completing a gruelling assault course. The guests also played hide and seek type Army games, had a Nerf War and had fun with an adventurous river rope swing.
