Selected as Party of the Day on June 15th!
Vintage Pink Pony Party
ByParty Recap
My daughter is crazy about horses and wants to be a professional show jumper when she grows up, so a pony party was selected for her 6th birthday. She also loves all things girly and pink, so I tried to incorporate all of her loves on her special day.
I designed all of the printables for the party including the invitation, straw flags, water bottle labels and more.
For the decorations, I tried to use things from around our home, like the vintage pink blanket which served as our tablecloth and my collection of vintage blue mason jars. I borrowed more jars from my grandmother and hit the antique stores for horseshoes and a vintage trophy loving cup which served as a vase for some pink sweetheart roses. I also made lots of horse show ribbons to decorate the table and drink area out of scrapbook paper and several kinds of ribbon.
My mom really helped me out by spray painting mason jar lids and horses picked up from a local hobby store pink, purple and green, and then glued them together to make our fun Shirley Temple drink jars. They were a huge hit!
When the kids arrived, they were given berry baskets filled with pony treats: carrots and apples. After pony rides, we hit the dessert buffet for cake, cupcakes and other treats. I served homemade root beer float marshmallows shaped like ponies. I also dressed up some store bought treats with sprinkles, such as the whoopie pies (Oreo Double Stuff Cakesters dressed up with white sugar pearl sprinkles), marshmallow lollipops (strawberry marshmallows dipped in almond bark and rolled in pink sugar pearl sprinkles). Purple snowball cakes (the birthday girl's favorite) were dressed up with cupcake flags, We also served Shirley Temples, strawberry lemonade and water.
