Party Recap

INSPIRATION & VENUE
“We wanted to try a new take on the “foliage” look that is so popular right now. Our version included tropical flowers as well as metallics and bright, bold colors. Sanctuary Events is a beautiful and unique historically significant space located right in the heart of Plainfield, Illinois. It was the ideal venue to showcase our tropical palette, which was partially inspired by their existing couch and loveseat. The spiral staircase up to the bridal suite was the perfect spot to add a balloon installation, and the light-filled, open space below was the perfect setting for both ceremony and reception decor.

DECOR, FLORALS & CEREMONY
Flowers, foliage and candles accented the macaron/gift table and living room areas in addition to the king’s table and guest tables. A large floral piece was designed to fit the window nook to bring more bold color and texture to the living room.

Our bride carried a bouquet filled with bold colors and textures. It included metallic foliage, protea, garden roses, tropical leaves, orchids, spray roses, parrot tulips and anemones wrapped in velvet ribbon. A matching boutonnière adorned the groom’s lapel. Bright blooms and textural foliage were used throughout the entire event space.

The new trend for a wedding arch is no arch at all. Instead, we used a collection of floral arrangements, vessels, columns, stands and modern lanterns with candles to create a backdrop for exchanging vows. We loved the shape and texture of the tall centerpieces and the balance of candles and florals on the rectangular open gold stand. Even more, our favorite, unique detail was the clear acrylic column with a floral arrangement INSIDE of it. I think we will be seeing a lot more looks like this in the future!

One of my favorite details of the day was the beautiful flat-lay vignette that our photographer styled with a ring in an emerald “Mrs.” box that included macarons and florals with it! I think flat-lays are such an artistic, still-life inspired way to capture some of the most important details of a wedding day!

TABLESCAPE, CAKE & FAVORS
Instead of a typical foliage runner on the king’s table, we placed tropical leaves and mixed votives down the center of the table, underneath the tall centerpieces. Chargers were topped with plates, which held folded napkins with wrapped place cards on them. A bright vanda orchid and sprig of camellia foliage accented the macaron favor boxes at each place setting. The floral and foliage mix with all of the candles and place settings made for a picture-perfect tablescape.

In addition to the macaron favor boxes, there was a white macaron tower in place of a traditional wedding cake. The couple exchanged vows, kisses and then macarons instead of cutting a cake.”
