Party Recap

Since becoming a mom, Valentine's Day has switched from less date nights to more kid play dates. A fun way for the kids to celebrate, is by hosting a Sweets and Treats party. My daughter invited a few friends from school and we planned an afternoon of fun activities, decorating rice krispies and lots of sweets and treats!
The table was decorated with supplies for embellishing the krispie treats. A variety of sprinkles were set out in a heart shaped baking tin. There was plenty of candy, frosting and rice krispie hearts for the girls to enjoy. This was a great project to keep them entertained, they all loved it! At each place setting, the girls were given their own towel and frosting knife. I pre-cut the rice krispies into a heart shape, so they were easy for the girls to grab and decorate, they looked cute and fit the theme!
Along with the towel and knife they each had a bingo card. This was our first activity to get the party started. We used conversation hearts as the marker and called each picture square out one by one. The girls loved playing and were so anxious to see who would yell out "bingo"first.
This was definitely a fun way to celebrate Valentine's Day and I know all the girls really loved it! I am already looking forward to the next one!
Happy Valentine's Day!!

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

After bingo the girls had lunch. I kept the menu simple with pb&j crustables, applesauce packs, apple juice and goldfish crackers. I figured since I would be filling them of sugar, the least I could do was feed them something more. The crustables were put in cute paper bags and tied with twine.

  • What People Drank

    Apple Juice and Water

  • Desserts

In keeping with the theme of making things easier, I bought mini cakes and sugar cookies from the grocery store. For so many of my past parties I have slaved over making the desserts from scratch. This time, it was all about fun, easy prep and making it a good time for everyone. Sometimes you have to do what is easiest, and these treats were still really delicious!

  • Party Favors

As a little thank you for coming, I ordered sweet candy wands from Handcrafted Parties and each guest was able to take one home, along with the goodies they decorated. I just love how they turned out, they are so cute!

  • Activities / Games

After lunch the decorating began, the candy and treats were fair game! There were sprinkles and frosting everywhere, and they all enjoyed it so much! I don't think there was one krispie treat that had a lacking of sprinkles and I am pretty sure a fair number of them also decorated the floor. The giggles and silliness were all around! After all the decorating, eating, bingo and more eating it was craft time for the girls. This was a nice activity to wind down a little. I found several Valentine inspired prints online and printed out a few copies of each, for all the girls to color. I also included an activity sheet with a word search, tic-tac-toe, etc...
