Shannon and Matthew's Amazing Mexican Beach Wedding

Matthew and Shannon were set up by a friend, and after meeting at a friendly get-together, they had their first date at a yoga class. Over the months, they bonded over concerts, weekend trips and hikes. After getting engaged, the couple decided a destination wedding in Mexico’s Mayan Riviera would be the best choice since their families lived thousands of miles apart.

“I had been to Sandos Playacar a few years ago and knew that it was a fantastic resort with a beautiful beach,” Shannon says. “We both love the beach and the ocean, so we chose a beachfront ceremony and reception for our guests.” They chose music that held meaning and memories for their relationship, and the couple’s siblings served as MCs, “which added a lot of humor and nostalgic moments.”

Another treat was a golf trip for the men while the ladies had a fun night together organized by the resort. Shannon and Matthew advises other couples planning destination weddings to “give people lots of time to plan and set money and time aside, and they will be there!”
