Savannah's "Sofia the First" 1st Birthday Celebration
ByParty Recap
"A 1st Birthday to Remember"
I wanted my daughter Savannah's 1st birthday to be a special day that my family could look back on and cherish for years to come. After two wonderful boys (ages 11 and 13), I was excited to get to do something girly for a change! I've always loved hosting parties and not much else gets me as excited as a Disney themed party! Knowing it would be difficult to put together a big party with a baby, I started planning when Savannah was only 5 months old. Having the blessing of Pinterest is an amazing way to gather ideas and have them accessible at all times no matter where you are! What would we do without it? I originally started out thinking I would do a non-disney themed party for her 1st (I know...what was I thinking?) and do an elegant pink and gold party. But, after seeing my daughters face light up every time Sofia came on Disney Junior, I knew it had to be the theme of her party. What else makes a better "1st Birthday" theme than "Sofia the First" anyways? Plus, lavender is my favorite color and I knew I could make it more on the elegant side than cartoony. Oh, let the fun begin!
The party was set for March 22nd. Even though I started planning months before Christmas, I hadn't actually begun any of the work. As soon as Christmas was over, I knew I better get a start on it. I didn't want to be stressed out waiting until the last minute. I knew I would be doing most things myself instead of buying, so I was going to need some time. By the end of January, the ordering and crafting had begun! On top of the party, I decided to put Savannah's cake smash together and photograph it myself (photography is another hobby of mine). Of course, I'm so dang picky, I just couldn't find the perfect outfit. I decided to make it myself. The list was getting longer!
After two months of shopping and crafting, the big day finally came! A big thank you goes out to my mom, I couldn't have done it without her help! Of course, even though I started way in advance there were a few things that didn't get done. The one I'm most disappointed about, is running out of time to do the tulle canopy on the dessert table to finish it off. But, I have to say, I'm pretty pleased with the end result! It was such a special day and Savannah was a total charmer. I guess she knew it was her special day too! We'll cherish this 1st birthday forever!
Here is a list of everything pictured from the party and where it was purchased or if it was made with love by me!
