Sam's Dinosaur 3rd Birthday
ByParty Recap
This dinosaur theme was an easy choice for my son’s 3rd birthday. He was on a major dinosaur kick and he and his sister loved learning about, playing with and pretending to be dinosaurs. I started with the t-rex illustration and color choices and created the invitation and dinosaur egg stickers. From there everything pretty much fell into place. His first request for the party was a dinosaur egg piñata. I made it by paper mâché-ing a balloon and painting it to match the sticker I designed. The most fun part was splatter painting the speckles! I carried over the dino egg image into the printables with food labels. The focal point of the party was the dessert table with a large dinosaur poster. We had a chocolate bundt cake with printed dino tracks as the cake topper, dinosaur fossil sugar cookies, and cupcakes with “3” cupcake toppers. For the kids’ dining table, we had coordinating green and aqua table settings and a black and white striped table runner. The centerpieces were spray-painted dinosaurs holding balloons. I was really impressed with the quality and vibrant colors of the balloons from Shop Sweet Lulu. Other decor included a jumbo balloon and printed dinosaur tracks garland.
When guests arrived, kids played, grownups chatted and we had the birthday boy’s favorite meal - cheeseburgers, along with watermelon, fresh veggies, chips, dips and potato salad. After dinner the birthday boy opened presents, we sang “Happy Birthday” and ate cake and, ended with breaking the piñata. Each child got a treat bag with a favor sticker on it to fill with the piñata treats. My biggest tip from this party is: if you’re going to have a lot of balloons, invest in your own helium tank. They aren’t very expensive, it’s actually a lot of fun to fill balloons, and it beats sending your husband out last-minute to have them filled at a grocery store! I hope you enjoy these party photos! Awesome party! My 3 year old has been obsessed with Dino's for a while and it was a no brainer for his birthday party theme. Where did you find the dinosaur figures for the table decor?
