Robyn and Kevin's Outdoors California Wedding

When Kevin proposed to Robyn, he wrote the couple’s own fairytale. “As I read the story, he got to his knees and asked me to be his wife,” Robyn recalls fondly. “He teases that it took me an eternity to say yes!”

Months later, on the banks of the Kern River in Bakersfield, California, Robyn and Kevin said their vows before friends and family – including Robyn’s older brother, who introduced the couple and officiated the wedding. With beautiful weather, Kevin and Robyn, along with their guests, enjoyed an outdoor ceremony and reception, all staged by the water. They kept the color scheme simple, with white and green florals and red bridesmaids’ dresses, and vintage trunks and chalkboards were placed near the dinner tables, adorned with chic flower arrangements and white tablecloths. Because of the couple’s love for books, they gave guests personalized bookmarks as favors.

The couple also asked guests to write their marriage advice and date-night ideas on cards, and offered games (including cornhole) during the cocktail hour before the ceremony. Along with wedding cake, Robyn and Kevin served white-and-silver-iced sugar cookies with the ceremony’s date and other personalized decorations.
