Party Recap

My granddaughter Carley asked her mother if she could have a "Hot Pink Tea Party" in honor of her 4th birthday and my daughter, Edwina didn't hesitate to say... YES! This was a DIYer's dream! A little spray paint, hot glue and a roll of bling can go a long way. We made the invites, banner, placemats, paper flowers, carnation flowers, table center pieces, tu-tu chair covers, reupholstered chairs, balloon garland, and blinged out just about anything we could get our hands on including the tea pot and utensils! I have a small backyard. So, that helped to keep the guest list small and to afford us the opportunity to concentrate on prettying things up a bit. We avoided using any professional vendors by having family to assist wherever we found the need. My granddaughter was bursting with joy when she made her debut in the presence of her guests. She thanked me with the biggest hug! Despite the summer heat, the girls laughed, danced, sang, ate and played for hours! I had fun just watching them play. Everyone had such a great time. It really was worth taking the time to add the little special touches.

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

My daughter decided to keep the menu simple by serving fried wing dings, corn on the cob, pasta salad, green beans.and tea sandwiches.

  • What People Drank

Again, we kept the drink selection simple with strawberry lemonade and water.

  • Desserts

Desserts included sliced watermelon and a sweets table. All of the desserts on the sweets table were homemade: Strawberry-Raspberry Birthday Cake, vanilla cupcakes, rice crispy treats, miniature brownies, candy apples and carmel coated popcorn.

  • Party Favors

Carley's guests were given matching party dresses, tiaras and personalized canvas tote bags filled with goodies for party favors.

  • Activities / Games

We had a bubble machine, nail and makeup stations which the girls loved! And I do mean LOVED!!! My daughter wanted to keep it simple with free play. So we just played kids bop music which brought out some really cool moves from the young and the old alike.
