Party Recap

I had the honor of collaborating with the mama of a sweet 4-year old for his birthday celebration this weekend and what an honor it was to be a part of this special occasion! This is the sweetest family and I wanted the day to be perfect for them. The birthday boy’s mama told me that he wanted to have a “Luke Skywalker” party so the theme was decided, we just had to decide on all of the fun details, which wasn’t hard since there are so many of them! The guest of honor had a few requests, which were the StarWars Rebels plates and napkins and Red Velvet cake with Chocolate Frosting…YUM!

We decided on the local YMCA Gymnastics Center for the venue. The kiddos had an hour long private class complete with a dive in the foam pit. This was a great strategy for wearing the kiddos out before cake and heading home for nap…you’re welcome parents!

The kiddos (and some parents:) LOVED the pool noodle light sabers that are all over Pinterest, here is a tutorial on how to make them, I’d create my own but mom2mycrazy2 makes it so easy with the details and excellent step-by-step pictures so why reinvent the wheel? :) http://mom2mycrazy2.blogspot.com/2013/04/star-wars-party-pool-noodle-light-saber.html

For the food, there were breakfast burritos from a local shop and bagels and soufflés from Panera Bread. The kiddos also got to munch on cheese sticks, mandarin oranges, berries and pretzels. For dessert the birthday boy got his request, we served a red velvet cake with chocolate frosting from The Crimson Cake, it was delicious and the design was adorable! For guests that preferred something lighter, we offered vanilla and gluten-free banana cupcakes. Yoda urged all guests to “use the fork”, which just so happened to say “May the Fork be With You” on the handles…I love this stuff!

The beverages were my favorite part…We got Starbucks coffee and had the cutest “StarWars Coffee” sign made with Darth’s face on it! For the kiddos drinks we put “Yoda Soda” (limeade with food coloring) in a beverage dispenser and “Wookie Water” in another. Everyone got to sip from black paper straws with white stars with a custom flag attached.

Decor-wise we kept it pretty simple with black and blue table cloths, StarWars figurines and balloons, light sabers, black tin pails with Darth’s silhouette (I found these decals randomly at Walmart for $2!!) and some other paraphernalia we were able to gather between the two of us. All of the printables were designed by the talented, The Party Town https://www.etsy.com/shop/thepartytown. She was super accommodating and even gave us a few items we added last minute at no cost!

For favors, each of the kiddos went home with a reader that the birthday boy’s mama handpicked per each guest’s preferences…sweet huh? She tied them with bakers’ twine and a “light saber” (of course), to keep with the theme. This party was out of this world and the birthday boy and his guests had a fantastic time…SUCCESS!!
