Party Recap

When my boy Ori turned 3, I threw him a Jungle Book birthday party, as that was his favorite book and movie. I invited family, close friends and a few kids from his kindergarten and the party took place in a park near our home. Plush long arm monkeys and little decorative birdcages with Ferrero Rocher chocolates were hanging from the trees, while plastic safari animal figures spray painted in gold and small bouquets of white gypsophila decorated the tables. Gold pipe cleaners wrapped around drinking straws spelled the birthday boy's name and the handmade food tags were a funny tribute to the Jungle Book, such as "guaca-mowgli". Everything was elegant but also wild and fun.

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

The food buffet included veggies, chips with guacamole, Sandwiches with goat cheese and roasted sweet red peppers, cream and mushroom sauce pasta, tomato and basil sauce pasta and pizza.

  • What People Drank

Beverages included mineral water and soft drinks, like cola, diet cola, orange juice and strawberry banana juice.

  • Desserts

There were mainly chocolate desserts: chocolate pudding with macaroons, big chocolate kisses, chocolate dipped waffle rolls, chocolate dipped marshmallow pops and chocolate mousse cake, but there were also lots of gummy candies and salty snacks.

  • Party Favors

In each kid's favor bag I put tiger, zebra or giraffe paddle ball, matching kids sunglasses, matching binoculars toy, Jungle Book stickers, little Jungle Book puzzle game and Jungle Book soap bubbles toy. To the grownups I handed out decorative pebbles with inspirational words.

  • Activities / Games

The kids enjoyed two inflatable swimming pools, water guns in various sizes, and cans of string and foam spray, which were a huge hit. They had so much fun running around shooting water and spraying foam. They also enjoyed a coloring table with Jungle Book coloring pages, markers and stickers. The grownups were invited to write down their most memorable memory from the birthday boy and put it inside a memory wooden box.
