Party Recap

We are not your usual people! Although both of us (the bride and the groom) are engineers, we have intricate passions. My husband is passionate about mountain climbing and is a beekeeper in his spare time, while I love handmade, craft, making stuff, hence I own a digital party supplies shop. We wanted a small, intimate and very personal wedding: except for the food which was catered, everything was either made by us or our friends. We even brought our two cats to the venue!
The venue we chose was a guest house in a remote village in the mountains. Our wedding was on the 15th of October, so it was rather cold, but we had some hours of sun and warmth! I wore a simple white dress and later changed into white jeans and sweater (the bride must wear white!) and my groom wore jeans and a shirt and I convinced him to wear partially formal shoes instead of mountain boots (he changed into those after the civil ceremony, though). All our guests wore warm and casual attire (+ blankets in the evening!).
All the decor was made by us (we arrived at the venue a couple of days earlier and we had time to arrange everything to our liking). We decorated with pumpkins (which we gathered ourselves), hay, balloons and autumn flowers. We even built a birch arch decorated with yellow flowers and berries. The flower arrangements were made by a florist friend of mine, as well as my floral crown. The cake was made by a friend and the photos taken by...another friend!
We had a simple civil ceremony at the town hall and then we headed to the venue for the party. The guys played football, the kids made soap balloons and played with the cats (plenty of cats to choose from: 10 came with the venue and 2 came with the bride and groom!), we carved pumpkins in the evening, had a barbecue and stayed by the fire. At ten o'clock, we were sound asleep, as husband and wife!

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

    Catered food, barbecue, homemade cake.

  • What People Drank

100% natural juices for the 4 kids at the party, hot tea, molded wine, homemade spirits made from plums (in Romanian, they are called "tuica" and "palinca", and they were as old as my husband!), soft drinks.

  • Desserts

Homemade cake made by a friend, and made to look like a birch tree stump. Cocoa and vanilla filling.

  • Party Favors

Honey jars! We made our favors by ourselves: I filled in the jars, cut crepe paper circles for wrapping and designed and cut the tags (using clipart from LeCoqDesign)

  • Activities / Games

The guys played football, the kids made soap balloons and played with the cats (plenty of cats to choose from: 10 came with the venue and 2 came with the bride and groom!), we carved pumpkins in the evening, had a barbecue and stayed by the fire.
