“See the line where the sky meets the sea…It calls Me”- Moana. Oh Moana! This party was truly a calling. Ocean, shells, and a Polynesian princess- what’s not to love. I was thrilled when my now six-year-old requested Moana as her birthday theme this year. I don’t always like their choice but this one I LOVED. I love anything wood and rustic and I have a sea of ocean lovers in family so it was the perfect inspiration to put it all together. Combing the ocean and island was my goal. I decided on an ocean blue background and raffia table skirt combined with an orange fabric inspired by Moana’s dress.
With so many props to choose from, I decided on seashells, nets, conch shells, coral, palm leaves, and hibiscus flowers. I had previously created a sail boat prop for my daughter’s photoshoot and we loved it so much that we had to include it on our table, complete with Pua and Hei Hei onboard. My amazing cake lady created a gorgeous Moana dress inspired cake complete with a Polynesian crown. For the treats, I really wanted each one to represent a character or element from the movie. We had Pua cupcakes, Heart of Te Fiti jelly beans, Hei Hei’s corn kernels (popcorn), Kakamora “fighting sticks” and coconut cookies, Jello sailboats, hibiscus cookies, and sea life rice krispies.
I always complete every party with little details to match the theme such as candy wrappers, food labels, tags, signs, and water bottle labels. I also like to create or “dress up” the goody bags for the little guest to take a little piece of the party home.
Out of the parties I’ve put together, this one is definitely a top favorite. My princess was so happy and all I had to say to her was “You’re welcome!” LOL
