Party Recap

We decided in lieu of gifts we would ask our family and friends to make a donation to BC Women's Hospital NICU Baby Tile Program in her honour. It was important to us to give back to the hospital that helped Milania tremendously during the first few weeks of her life and we knew this was a start for how we could begin to show our gratitude.
As for a theme, I wanted something original and different, elegant but simple. I've recently developed a passion for floral arrangements so I knew I wanted to be able to create some of the decor using flowers. I thought about the white doves that my husband and I released for our wedding and remember thinking how beautiful and pure they were. I then decided the flowers would be white. White to me symbolizes purity and innocence and every time I look deep into Milania's eye I see just that. As for the rose gold, I liked both pink and gold and thought what better way to combine that idea together. (Although I might add it was a challenge finding decor items in rose gold, thank God for Etsy and Michaels!) Desserts were a key point of the party for a couple of reasons: I thought it would be a good way to have rose gold incorporated into the designs of the desserts and also because well my middle name is sugar in farsi and I love my sweets! I also wanted something for the kids attending to do so I created a cupcake decorating station at the dessert table. Every detail was carefully thought out and hand picked. From the Cupcake brand wine (cupcakes=sweet=Milania) to the rose gold bottega sparkling wine (yes I only chose it because it was rose gold) to the rose gold paint that was carefully mixed by myself, I wanted everything to perfect for Milania’s 1st birthday as to me she is just that, perfection.
The day turned out to be beyond perfect, from the food and presentation of everything to the ambience and atmosphere. You could feel the love in the room and how much everyone was happy to be celebrating with Milania but most importantly; it was a perfect day for Milania! She enjoyed every minute of it, from taking endless pictures with everyone to eating and socializing, she even managed to squeeze in a short nap on Zio Frank's shoulder, and it was just precious!

Decor & desserts by me:
-spray painted bottles/jars in copper (tip--use bottles that have easy to peel off paper, soaking helps)
-pillar vases with rose gold painted letters ‘ONE’
-canvas collage with floral ‘1’ & floral ‘M’
-floral ice cubes (tip--bright coloured larger bud flowers work best, make sure they are edible, can make weeks in advance)
-floral arrangement in white cage (tip---use a cage that has a large opening to give you room to make the arrangement)
-party favour bags
-glitter donuts (bought from Safeway, glazed and glittered by me)
-marshmallow pops
