Party Recap

Vintage Mary Poppins Twin Baby Shower -

Wanting to have a vintage library themed shower, we came up with the idea of a Mary Poppins theme after a family trip to celebrate Halloween in Salem this past year. Whitney & I discussed dressing up as a group as Mary Poppins characters but our idea was turned down by everyone else. So we used our best friend's baby shower as our opportunity to go thrift/antique shopping and to wear "Votes for Women'' sashes.
Needless to say, Mary Poppins party supplies are not readily available - however, Whitney happens to be an amazing artist and ebay is a wonderful thing. We found really great old Mary Poppins books, found beautiful umbrellas, and made black hats with red and yellow flowers. We also made "Votes for Women" buttons and created our own Mary Poppins trivia and bingo games. We were able to find vintage Mary Poppins items on ebay- board games, cards, silver spoons, and even glass and metal figurines/statues, along with vintage penguin figures to match - all from the 1960s.

It was so much fun putting this shower together & taking the time to find original items instead of the standard themes we have all seen too many times already. We loved the movie growing up so it happened to be the perfect choice for us, but I highly recommend making your next event something unique and personal to yourself and the guest of honor !!
