Party Recap

Makenna wanted an "Under the sea/ Mermaid Party" so I had to create an under water world for everyone to enjoy! This party was filled with DIY projects that just make the entire party special! Themed decorations, games, and food! I did everything I could think of to make it perfect for my little mermaid!

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

Everything I made was Themed to the party.... Cannon Balls- a perfect and simple solution to satisfy the adults... I simply cooked a large crock pot full of meat balls! Something simple that I could start first thing in the morning and then not have to worry about! Pizza Crabs- Crescent rolls filled with pepperoni and mozzerella and topped with two olives on toothpicks to create the eyes! Very fun and who doesn't love pizza!? Sea snails- Another use for the crescent rolls using mini sausages! Peanut Butter and Jelly Fish- A MUST HAVE for picky little ones! Just P.B.&J sandwiches, cut out with cookie cutters!

  • Desserts

Starfish- Such a simple idea that you can use for so many different dessert items... Star cookie cutters can turn any sweet into Starfish Treats... Jello, cookies, marshmallow treats... etc.... For ours we used Lemon bars and Raspberry Cheesecake! Fish Friendly Sushi- One of them cutest items on the table... Rice crispie treats topped with swedish fish and wrapped in sour belt candy makes an amazing version of "Sushi" that kids will love! Mother of Pearl Cookies- Two shortbread cookies with lots of frosting and one pretty pearl (sixlet candy found in the bakery aisle). Happy Octopus Suckers- An adorable treat that doubles as an adorable decoration! I just used Dum Dums and Tootsie pops to create different size sea creatures complete with Pipe Cleaner Legs and Googly eyes! Fish Bowl Pops- My kids LOVE marshmallows so this was an easy decision and turned out SO cute. I just pushed a sucker stick into the center of a marshmallow and then dipped it in blue candy melts. I then added a goldfish and a couple white sprinkles for the "bubbles". I thought the goldfish would be a funky tasting combination with the sweetness of candy and marshmallow but it actually added a perfect bit of texture and salt for a really yummy treat!

  • Party Favors

All the kids left with their custom balloon animals as well as candy, and jewelry that were given to them by Ariel!

  • Activities / Games

I created a version of Pin the Tail on the Donkey.... it was Pin the Pearl on the Oyster. I just used a poster board and construction paper to create an adorable under water scene. The "Pearls" I had them use were sparkly white foam stickers that I cut into circles. Then, about an hour into the party I had Ariel show up! She did an amazing job! She brought a large parachute for the kids to play games with, they bounced "sea creature" stuffed animals including Flounder and Sebastian! Then they sang all kinds of mermaid songs and did mermaid dances! Then it was time for face painting and balloon animals!
