Madeline Turns One

Helena D By Helena D  in Birthday

Party Recap

In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines,
Lived twelve little girls in two straight lines.

As soon as we had named our second beautiful daughter I knew that her first birthday celebration would be based on her namesake - the red-headed heroine from the much-loved book and TV series “Madeline”.

I wanted to take the children on a journey to Madeline’s Paris. We began by giving them a passport (complete with Polaroid passport photo) and boarding pass and started our imaginary trip guided by Madeline herself.

First stop was the boutique where each child was given their cape and hat (Madeline style for the girls and Pepito style for the boys).
Then followed a string of fun activities including learning to sing Frère Jacques in French, pin the bow on Genevieve, singing and dancing.

The centrepiece for the party was a large cut out of the ‘house covered with vines’ illustrated by Pink Pom Pom Kids.
Catering included a crêpe station, charcuterie stand and patisserie stand.

As a special keepsake for the birthday girl, guests signed a copy of Lugwig Bemelmans ‘Madeline’ book.
