Party Recap

Maddie is OBSESSED with mermaids! And who can blame her? They're so glam! So we put together a personalized party that made her mermaid dreams come true.

My favorite feature of the party is the video poster. The TV on the wall was a like a black hole in the middle of our mermaid kingdom. Why not make the unavoidable focal point an asset? The video poster I created refreshes every 15 seconds with a wall of pink bubbles.

The kids favorite feature was the coloring table runner -- personalized with Maddie's name and a birthday message. They had a blast coloring the mermaids and sea creatures.

And for simplicity, we used paper lanterns and crepe paper pom-poms instead of a balloon garland. No armature, clips, or adhesives needed for this cascade of "bubbles" in the center of our display.

We wanted to make the table fabulous so we ordered yards and yards of inexpensive pink, purple, and blue tulle. No sewing necessary for this table skirt. We just laid lengths of tulle across the table and placed a 2x6' piece of chipboard over the top of it to provide a smooth, firm surface for the coloring table runner.

Maddie LOVED her party -- and she even got to wear the mermaid tail that she saved up for and bought for herself!
