Party Recap

About a month ago, I had the pleasure of throwing a graduation party for a dear family friend. Since Lyric was one of the flower girls at my wedding, the occasion was all the more special! With her family and friends gathered round, we both celebrated her accomplishments & said our farewells as she leaves for a year to travel the world.

When starting to plan the graduation party, I wanted to incorporate the Lyric's favorite color (black) as a jumping point for lots of bright feminine colors. Instead of going the traditional route (diploma and cap and gown,) I used geometric triangular shapes as the design element. The guest of honor loved how everything came together, and I am thrilled to share it with you today.

The dessert table was set against a rustic barn. I created a simple backdrop with colorful and inexpensive geometric garlands by draping them the length of the dessert table. I used an intricately designed two-tiered cake as the focal point, and used an acrylic cake topper as the finishing piece. Some of the desserts I made myself, others I picked up inexpensively from my local grocery store bakery, and others I had custom made. One of my favorite custom desserts was the gold splattered geometric shaped cookies; they were so beautiful! The guest table, was made by pulling together old pallet wood, blankets, and oversized pillows. I found the perfect geometric table runner, and then used colorful centerpieces & florals to decorate the table top. I also set up an area for commemorating the event for the guest of honor & her friends; a vintage velvet chair was the perfect backdrop for lots of cute photo ops. One of my favorite things about this party was the keepsake created. Since the guest of honor loves Converse, we had each of her friends sign a message on an oversized, new pair of teal high tops. It turned out super cute! The day was such a fun celebration of a wonderfully special graduate!
