Party Recap

I was thrilled to be a part of the planning process for this sweet baby shower, with its Little Prince theme and powder blue damask and crystal decor elements.
The venue was an expansive recreation centre auditorium that was not very much to look at, with the saving grace of a gorgeous view overlooking a serene lake. We focused on that and used colour and sparkle to detract from the bare- bones space. We used soft tones of blue, gray, and ivory throughout the decor, from the satin ivory linens to the tissue paper pom poms in shimmery ivory, blue, soft gray.
With 60 guests in attendance and a third of them under the age of 13, we arranged for the kids to compete for prizes at game stations set up around the space and staffed by teenaged relatives. Meanwhile, we found that, as expected, male party guests took full advantage of the walk- out patio.

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

A diverse lunch menu that reflected the backgrounds of the parents was on offer, including; jerk chicken prepared by the Great- Grandma- to be, peas and rice, sushi and sashimi, and an assortment of salads and sides.

  • What People Drank

A gorgeous azure- hued blue punch was set up at a self- serve station where guests helped themselves to no- spill mason jars fitted with damask lids. Mineral water and blue Jones soda was also on offer.

  • Desserts

An onsite Dutch Strofwafel station that served up sticky sweet, syrop filled waffles hot off the waffle press was a hit with kids and adults alike. We also served vanilla and mint- chocolate french macarons, and both blue velvet and vanilla bean cupcakes.

  • Party Favors

Bejewelled Little Prince favour tags affixed to glassine bags were filled with all shades, flavours, and size of blue candy, served at the candy bar that stood front and centre at the party.
