Lily's Bambi Inspired 3rd Birthday
ByParty Recap
I wasn't planning on having a birthday party for my little girl because we were doing a family trip to Disneyland instead. I figured I would avoid throwing a big party and just enjoy her last few days of being two. Well…that changed quickly after my daughter started singing “Happy Birthday” and talking about her birthday cake. How could I not throw her a small family birthday party?
I'm calling this my 48 hour birthday bash since I literally put it together last minute. My little girl loves bunnies so I did a Bambi inspired party with pretty much things laying around the house. I created the oversized bunny, gold glitter leaves, butterfly and cake topper with my Cricut machine. I used a famous phrase from the movie instead of the traditional “Lily is 3” because she always says this phrase and I thought it would be cute to look back at. The large frame is hanging in my kitchen and was the perfect backdrop to display the large bunny. I purchased the black and white fabric from Joanns, hung it up with gold tacks and put tape on the back of the rabbit. Next, I picked up some pretty napkins from TJ Maxx, plates from Party City, added some vintage pieces and wood slices from my collection, threw on a tablecloth, ordered some balloons and WA-LAA!!! The final touch was a vine of leaves I had laying around the house that I strung on top of the frame.
As for food I made it super simple. I ordered some sandwiches from Albertons, picked up a fruit tray, put out some chips and dip and made some pink lemonade. I had to spruce things up with some pretty bowls, trays and a beverage dispenser to tie it all together from my vintage rentals.
I had a little help from JDJ Designs 2 , Mas Cakes and The Cookiemeister. The darling little bunny and skunk piñatas were created by Jamie at JDJ Designs 2. Not only are they adorable, they have a switch that makes them light up and can be saved in your child’s room. The stunning cake was made by Mas Cakes. I saw a cake on Instagram that was very similar but only had the images on it. I wanted something more feminine so I worked with Maggie to create this beauty. The pretty cookies were designed by The Cookiemeister. I asked for Bambi inspired cookies and that’s exactly what was delivered. I told Kay the theme and color pallet and she sent me over a sketch to approve. Without these 3 ladies I could not have pulled off this event.
My little one loved her last minute party and thankfully you could never tell. It's funny as I'm typing this I can hear her in the other room singing "Happy Birthday To You!" I would have to say that she had a pretty awesome 3rd birthday.
Thank you ladies for all your help!
