Leap, Hop, & Jump Around!

Our three children have birthdays within one month of each other, so we throw one party for all of them and celebrate with our extended families! This year, the Saturday of the party happened to fall on Leap Day, thus inspiring a Leaping theme centered around frogs and lily pads! Leap day only happens every four years, so why not have extra fun celebrating an extra calendar day, even though none of our kids are "leap babies"?!
Kid-friendly decor: hopscotch, cat tails, frog fabric, lily pads and lotus flowers, origami frogs, and stuffed animal frogs and frog puppets!
We enjoyed appetizers "Pond Grub" and a four-layer chocolate cake (pond with cattails) for dessert!
The kids enjoyed the party prepping process. They made cute "frogs on a log" invitations. They made multi-layered lily pad wall art as well as fun lily pad party favors with handprint frogs and coffee-filter lilies on a green paper plate lily pad. "Thanks for hopping by!" My mom surprised our two daughters with matching GREEN dresses to put on right before the party! My in-laws gave the kids stuffed animal frogs and frog puppets which also fueled their creativity pre-party!
We are blessed that our extended families enjoy spending time together and lavish their love on our children from the bottom of their hearts. We visited, ate appetizers, opened gifts, sang "Happy Birthday", ate cake, and had a photo booth with the birthday kids (these pictures get developed for the thank you cards after the party)!!   Pond Grub: "toads on a log" (raisins & peanut butter on celery), "lily pads" (tuna salad/curried chickpea salad on lettuce leaves), pita with hummus, veggies, fruit, "stuffed toadstools" (vegan stuffed mushrooms)
