Party Recap

It’s the return of my favorite season! Not just because of sweater weather, crunchy leaves, and PSLs – but because it means that it’s almost HALLOWEEN! It’s a yearly tradition for the kids to invite over their friends and cousins to have a Halloween party before we go trick-or-treating. We’ll do a costume contest, and when we get home, we’ll dig into our sacks of candy and watch a Halloween movie. We’ve still got time before the 31st, so I wanted to share some of my Halloween party ideas we used last year!
I went to Michaels online because they always have such fun Halloween decorations. I didn’t want anything too scary because of the age range of my guests, and I was lucky enough to find plenty of kid-friendly Halloween party supplies. I found an adorable set of Halloween paper plates, cups, and napkins that was perfect for the event. There were even silly ghost centerpieces that I thought went really well with the spooky theme. I added some neon plastic cutlery for the finishing touch on the table. And for the Halloween party decorations, I hung up a Happy Halloween banner and strung some fake spider webs around the room.
For the Halloween party snacks, I filled up a plastic Halloween cauldron with chips, popcorn, or any other munchies. Our Halloween party plates and napkins were perfect for dishing out slices of pizza. And I topped off our Halloween cupcakes with these cute Halloween cupcake toppers I found on Michaels.com.
So I recommend doing the Halloween costume contest before you hit the road and start trick-or-treating. That way, everyone still has their make-up on and none of their accessories have gotten lost yet! I like to put on Monster Mash and have the kids parade through the living room like it’s a fashion show. Everyone gets a really big kick out of it! When the song is up, we line up the kids and give one lucky winner a “Best Halloween Costume” award ribbon!
Before my little ghouls leave at the end of the night, I passed out some Halloween party favor bags chockful of extra Halloween treats. I picked up these really cute Halloween candy bags at Michael’s and filled them with plastic spiders, vampire fangs, Halloween nail stickers – stuff like that! Everyone was so excited to get more Halloween goodies to take home.
I can’t wait to do it all again this year! :)
