Party Recap
My daughter wanted to be The Cat in The Hat for her 6th birthday. Instead of the typical Dr. Seuss theme, she had a party entitled How The Grinch Stole Kaiylah's Birthday!
INVITATIONS: I made the invitations on the computer. I wanted them to open like a book so I went to Vistaprint and selected the vertical folded option. I used multiple Dr. Seuss images and used my own wording to create the invitations. The invitation read: (front) Welcome to Seussville. (left) Horton Hears A Who?! There's a PARTY just for you! (right) One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish. Our Cat in The Hat is turning 6. It's truer than true. Kaiylah wants to celebrate with you! January is the month; the 13th of 2018 is the date. The party starts @ 2p.m. so come and celebrate! You would not, could not want to miss such a birthday quite like this! Could you come and play? Please mark yay or nay. RSVP Cindy Lou Who either way (phone number listed) Oh, the Places You'll Go in Seussville. I then provided the location of the party.
ATTIRE: My daughter took professional pictures as The Cat in The Hat. I made a video trailer from my iPhone of How The Grinch Stole Kaiylah's Birthday! The outfit was from Party City. It was a red and white striped top hat headband, a black tutu dress with a red bow, fuzzy white trim, a black tail, and red/white striped arm warmers and tights. She wore black and white Converse to match, adorned with The Cat in The Hat's hat sticker on the tongue of the shoes.
Her big sister dressed as the Grinch, wearing a L/S black shirt that read My Sister Is So Cute Even the Grinch Wants to Steal Her. She had on black leggings and black tutu with a matching Grinch headband, and black/gold sneakers.
Mommy and Daddy wore matching red Thing Dad and Thing Mom t-shirts. We both wore black denim jeans.
DECORATIONS: Upon entering, guests were greeted by The Grinch standee prop with arrows pointing to Seussville, Thneedville, and Whoville. The Cat and The Hat standee prop was near the door where the party took place. The poles were wrapped in black and white crepe paper with a balooon on each pole.
For the photo backdrop, I purchased the clouds and sky art paper roll. I used die cut letters that read Oh, the Places You’ll Go and placed them on the left side of the wall paper roll. I had three balloons above the wording and the 3D Hot Air Balloon standee prop was on the right side. The kiddos were able to stand inside the hot air balloon individually or three at a time.
The cake table was draped with a red/white striped tablecloth. The following items were placed on the table: themed paper plates; themed paper cups; black utensils;!Hop on PopCORN; Horton’s Peanut Shaped Nutter Butters; Plush Horton Stuffed Animal; Horton Hears a Who book; wH2O water; Lorax Mustache Cheetos; Lorax Plush Stuffed Animal; The Lorax Book; DIY Lorax flower pot w/a swirl sucker, Lollipop, and pencil w/topper; Happy Birthday to You Book; The Cat in The Hat Book; a fish bowl w/a plush fish and marbles; One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish Book; themed Cat in the Hat striped hat and #6 cookies; Bartholomew and the Oobleck Book; The Cat and The Hat Comes Back Book; and Fox in Socks Book.
A Happy Birthday banner was above the cake table. I made a truffula tree and placed it under the banner. The other truffula trees were on the side of the fireplace. The party favors were on a table next to the Birthday Girl’s gift table.
FOOD: The guests had the following food: Pizza; Cindy Lou Who Roast Beast Beef Sub-Sandwiches; There’s a Wocket in my HOT Pocket; Green Grape Eggs and Ham; Lorax Mustache Cheetos; Barbaloot Chocolate Teddy Grahams w/ Marshmallows; Hop on PopCORN; Horton’s Peanut Shaped Nutter Butters; One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, GOLD Fish; Thing 1 and Thing 2 Cupcakes; The Cat in the Hat striped hat and number 6 cookies; Birthday Cake; and Ice-cream.
