Oh Summer.. How you’ve only been gone a few weeks now and I miss you dearly already. I feel the exact same way about leaving behind my perfect age of Twenty-Shhh.. It’s only been a few days since I celebrated my birthday; coincidentally on the same day we say goodbye to Summer & hello to Fall. I’ve always been jealous of those Summer babies.. with their fun, bright birthdays. My birthday lands around the time of fall trends so naturally my celebrations are less than summer-filled. However, this year I decided to change that around as my obsession with the well known ‘pineapple craze’ kept growing. With each new “Party like a Pineapple” event I came across online, I died a little inside. I just HAD to have a pineapple party - but I didn’t want to do the same things I had seen repeatedly. So, I had to do what I enjoy best & add a twist. Since Beyonce’s “Drunk in love” hit the airwaves, I’ve dreamt of a fun watermelon party but never had the opportunity to see it out. It was a no-brainer to combine these two and just like that, I started what would be my “Goodbye 25 (& Summer).. Hello 26 (& Fall)” theme. Immediately, I decided that fun bright colors (like pineapple yellow and watermelon pink and green) would make up my color scheme (Wooho!! J). I also knew, I wanted the design to match my age and the season – my goal was to make it more “grown-up” with a bit of “modern fall”. With that in mind, I added black & white stripes along with gold glitter to my color palette. I was so excited to see this all come together! Anyone who I mentioned my theme or colors to looked and me like I was crazy.. all I could say was “Just wait till you see it all together!” Sure enough, when it was all said and done – everyone loved it!

I usually begin with the invitations as the starting point of my
celebrations, however, I was so clear on what my vision was I wanted to jump right in and had put my invitations on the back burner for now. I quickly sketched out what I had in mind and started contacting my go-to vendors. First, Ivette of Lexi Kay Paperie had the perfect black & white striped backdrop to use as my main focal point. She also crafted my custom cake topper, which has to be one of my favorites to date! Next, Monica of Le Petit Papier worked her magic for my tents cards and prints. I still can’t get over the glittery goodness she added to everything! The heart of the station – the sweets – came from a few of the very best! Angie, of O Pops By Angie, made delicious cakepops, chocolate dipped oreos and rice krispies that were pure, sweet magic! Rachel, of Confections of a Mac-aholic, made the cutest &
yummiest pineapple and watermelon inspired macarons! Lastly, Vanessa of Ohh My Sweetness made refreshing fruit skewers, tasty sugar cookies & adorable cupcakes! To add more glitz and glam to the station, I spray painted pineapples in gold (obsessed! I wanted to keep them forever!) and dressed the table with a sequins black linen with a gold glitter runner. A gold sequin “A” and a sign that read “Darling it wouldn’t be a party without you” were perched on the corner adding a personalized touch.

For the drink station, a sign that read “I’ve been drinkin’…
Watermelon” was a MUST, which Monica was able to create. I served watermelon punch and watermelon jello shots made in lime rinds! A homemade drink dispenser made out of an actual watermelon, served Watermelon Margaritas for guests to enjoy! It was definitely one of the most enjoyed and talked-about items on the menu! I luckily, came across Lisa Frank of Hand Crafted Parties on IG and fell in love with her work. She made the cutest pineapple and watermelon mini piñatas which I used as event décor and then later as guest giveaways. My favorite part of the drink station was the adorable cups used to serve drinks. I found watermelon design cups on Etsy and “Party Like a Pineapple” cups, which I ordered from Oh Goodies Designs (Love her!
& Erica).

Speaking of Erica, this brings me full circle back to my invitations. I had the pleasure of working with Erica of Harper Grey Designs in the past and I couldn’t complete this celebration without her involved some way! Erica helped me accomplish my goal of “fun, but GLAM” by turning my entire vision into one little invite & it looked SO good! She, along with all my vendors made this event everything I imagined it to be! Without their help, I could not have accomplished an appropriate goodbye to 25 (& Summer) with a little pizzazz! ;)
