Party Recap

The days are getting longer and the warmer months are almost upon us. This is my favorite time of year for entertaining.

I have been trying to step outside of my comfort zone with color combinations and different elements. One color I have never worked with was lavender! The colors I settled on were shades of lavender, peach and blush. The back of our house faces west. I knew the western exposure would complement this color scheme perfectly—and there’s nothing like a sunset view over dinner!

This dinner party was only for 6 guests. No matter how big or small an event is, I never shy away from a wow factor. For my wow factor, I created a 10ft balloon garland using: pastel matte lavender, pearl lavender, blush and pearl peach balloons. I also added in sprigs of baby’s breath. There’s no specific guideline.. I just add it wherever looks good to me! Pro tip: the baby’s breath still looked great the next day. You can definitely add it in the day before to save time. Since this was an intimate setting with a plated dinner, I did not display anything on the buffet. If you have a larger group, I recommend setting up your appetizers, drinks, or desserts there.

When creating a tablescape, the first thing I look for is a table runner. I found this gorgeous sheer peach table runner on Amazon. I placed the table runner down flat and bunched it up in certain places to create this look. Hopefully that makes sense haha. I am loving the sheer look, it’s so romantic!

Each place setting included a white Corelle plate, bamboo flatware, lavender fringe napkin and tumbler from World Market. The tumblers are actually acrylic..which is a plus if you are entertaining outdoors!

I purchased baby’s breath, jumbo mums, carnations and alstroemeria from my local Publix. I created a larger bouquet for the center and bud vases in varying lengths for the sides. If you’ve been following for awhile you know I love creating my own bouquets and highly recommend it! It’s therapeutic for me and if guests ask where the flowers are from, you can let them know you made the bouquets!
