Party Recap

The Wizard of Oz has always been one of my absolute favorite movies. It’s classic, colorful, & imaginative. This year as we were deciding what theme to do for my daughter’s 5th birthday I thought of The Wizard of Oz. Plus with this year being their 75th Anniversary, you couldn’t go wrong with this theme. There is so much great inspiration out there, which made me think, “this has been done a million times”. Trust me, there are some exceptional parties with this theme but we wanted to do something a little different.

Our different came in the form of a “princess” type party with Glinda the Good Witch as our main character. We wanted to focus on the sparkly silver & pink that Glinda wore, her wand & crown, as well as the bubble that she came in.

First thing on my to do list was to make a bubble chandelier. A little planning & a lot of clear ball Christmas ornaments we were on our way. It is my absolute favorite décor piece I’ve done for a party to date.

The birthday girl was dressed in a custom made tutu inspired by Glinda.

We decorated our table with with white sheer fabric with silver, glittery stars, tulle & silver crowns. Our serving pieces were all decorated with silver mesh ribbon to give a little pizazz to each featured piece.

As our guests arrived they were greeted with a table of silver, glittery crowns & wands (for the girls) or a wizard hat & magic wizard wand (for the boys). The signage on the table read, “Are you a Good Witch or a Good Wizard?”

Our food consisted of pink & white peppermint marshmallows, rice krispy treats drizzled with White Mint melting chocolate and topped with baby pink sugar pearls, shimmery pink & white sixlets, gumballs, a yummy fruit tray, & cupcakes with custom fondant toppers to match our theme.

We sent each of our guests home with their crowns, hats, & wands as well as a “bubble” ornament filled with bubbles, stickers, gumballs & sixlets.

It was a party to remember.
