Frankie's 3rd Birthday

My baby girl turned THREE! Frankie was completely obsessed this past year with "WoodZeez" animal figures and playsets ("WoodZeez" are the Target version of "Calico Critters") so I wasn't very surprised when she requested a WoodZeez-themed party. I had to really go out on a limb with this one, but essentially I crafted together a woodland-ish theme and threw some WoodZeez figures in for good measure! It was a hit, especially the "build-your-own trail mix bar"!

• Desserts

  Homemade cupcakes (lemon with lemon buttercream and red velvet with vanilla bean buttercream) and a toadstool cake made using the Wilton "giant cupcake" pan. "Acorns" made of bite-sized Nutter Butters, mini peanut butter chips, and Hershey kisses, mini cherry pies baked in muffin tins.

• Party Favors

  Woodland creature ears and the surprisingly popular "build-your-own-trail-mix" bar.

• What People Ate

  I tried to keep it easy: (we ordered pizza and salad and I had veggie cups and other snacky things) but I got a bit more creative with the desserts.

• What People Drank

  Pink lemonade!

• Activities / Games

  Our 14' foot trampoline served as most of the entertainment. Aunt Kris also provided homemade "play-dough" with rolling pins and cookie cutters as well as a plastic wading pool with plastic fish and fishing nets.

• Most Touching Moment

  My daughter cupping my face in her hands and telling me, earnestly, that I am the best Mama EVER.

• Best Dressed

  The party girl, of course!

• Budget

  Not including food, but including the trail mix bar, I kept this one under $100. I used a lot of scrap paper and other materials I found in my craft room, as well as making several trips to the never-disappointing Dollar Tree for craft supplies.
