Eliana's Fly Away Hot Air Balloon 1st Birthday

It was the hottest day of the summer so far but we still had fun! Delicious homemade cake was destroyed by the weather but we fixed the disaster using a paper lantern from the centerpieces after the edible balloon fell and averted a "crisis". Our little birthday girl was happy the whole time as kids ran around in a water balloon fight.

The frames were decorated by hand:
I bought pine unfinished open frames from Hobby Lobby and used fabric glue (you could also use spray adhesive but it's a little harder to work with) to glue the fabric to the backside of the frame. It wasn't 100% perfect but it was close.

The fabric banners were made using pinking shears and I wrapped them on twine, a thicker ribbon would probably work well too.

I made the birthday banner using Word printed them and cut them out with a paper cutter. I hole punched them then strung them along ribbon.

The year in photos frame I used bakers twine with gold to hang the pictures hot glued it to the back (regular twine or wire would make the pictures go straight across but I ended up liking the way they looked this way.
It was tricky to display but I hot glued a couple of picture hangers on the back and I was going to hang it from my fence but I moved everything inside since it was unbearably hot.

The time capsule box I found at Michael's and it was definitely one of my favorite touches. I think she's going to love reading these in the future - especially her big brother's!
