Party Recap

Christmas is definitely one of our favourite holidays and we love to throw a few parties during this time of the year. The first party of the 2017 holiday season was this Cookie Decorating Party. Our kids’ friends came with their families to decorate sugar cookies and enjoy some hot chocolate and holiday cheer.

I wanted to go with neutral decor for this party, using lots of wood and different shades of white and throw in a bit of glitter for some holiday magic. Had seen a holiday tree made of ornaments in a THE WHITE COMPANY catalogue and used this idea as an inspiration for the backdrop. Most of the ornaments for the “tree” were purchased at Michaels. I had bought the white ribbon by Heidi Swapp a while ago and was so happy to incorporate it in the tree. Collaborated on this party with the talented Laura of yum.creations who made some delicious donuts and beautiful Nutella filled cone pops as well as some white chocolate gems made of Belgian chocolate.

Baked some “Vanillekipferl” as I traditionally do every holiday season to honour my German heritage. It is such an easy cookie to make and always a hit with the guests.

Rebecca of DisplacedHousewife was so kind to share an amazing sugar cookie recipe by Kate Wood with me. The sugar cookies tasted so good that lots of them were devoured before they were decorated. Kate Wood, please take it as a compliment!

Over all, it was a super fun party as the kids had a blast decorating their cookies and then sampling them.
