"Cocktails On The Rocks" Birthday Party
ByParty Recap
I recently threw a birthday party for my dear friend Jenny, who is truly a "gem." Her style is a combination of natural elements with clean modern lines and she enjoys small bites paired with a good cocktail so this geode party theme "cocktails on the rocks" was truly made to celebrate her!
THE PARTY:
Champagne with rock candy wands next to a "May Agate You A Drink?" sign, greeted the guests as they arrived at Jenny's Los Angeles home, introducing the theme of the party. Of course you can't have a cocktail party without cocktails so I created a signature drink called "Gem on the Rocks" which is made with 2 ounces of Fid Street Gin, a 1/2 ounce of Blue Curacao, 4 ounces of Sparkling Coconut Water with Yuzu (available at Trader Joe's) and a squeeze of lime juice served with a lime slice over ice.
To style this party, I combined elegant geode printable party decorations from Pixels And Pop with gold geometrics and raw crystal accents. We kept the florals simple with Big Blue Sea Holly, White Ranunculus and Baby's Breath placed in small cobalt glass bottle vases against a backdrop of Eucalyptus. Additional decor included a "Cheers" banner, which we hung from a gold hula hoop on the wall by the dining table and a "Cocktails on the Rocks" sign placed on the mantle in the living room near the gift and food table.
The menu included a variety of Jenny's favorite dishes such as oysters with rainbow caviar and gazpacho martinis provided by Critic's Choice Catering along a grazing tray filled with a variety of cheese, charcuterie, fruit and crudités that I put together. In place of a birthday cake we served Earl Grey chocolate cupcakes with black and blueberry cheesecake tarts created by the gifted Roseann of Scullery Baked. Printed menu cards and sliced agate name cards were included at each place setting along with a geode bottle stopper party favor.
Our party theme was carried throughout all of the little details including the birthday gifts, which were wrapped using Gift Wrap Kits in the style "Geode to Joy" from Pixels And Pop. We were so lucky to have the talented Onye there to photograph Jenny's special day as everything came together beautifully and we all had a fabulous time!
