Cheers to 90 years

“Oohh, oh my goodness, look at .. wow!!” grandma said as she saw the party decorations all set up. Our family all traveled to Florida to celebrate Grandma’s 90th birthday and we wanted her to have a special night. Since we were traveling and bringing the décor we had to be very thoughtful in the size of décor, etc. My mother-in-law and I spent months planning little details and then packed all the décor up in a box and it was driven from Pennsylvania down to Florida! We chose a classic color scheme of black and gold.

We were all staying in a resort in Florida and had planned on using the condo for the location. We could only plan based on the photos from the resort website and make some decisions on where things would be set up once we were there. Everything came together so well!

Grandma wore a Cheers to 90 years headband and for her drink she had a personalized “Ellie” drink stir stick from The cotton and canvas co. The foyer had a counter that we transformed into a bar with a giant cheers balloon. The adults enjoyed wine, whiskey, and beer. The cheers stir sticks were a fun detail and traveled back to Grandma’s apartment for her to enjoy with her friends at happy hours.

I spray painted baby’s breath gold and that traveled from Pennsylvania down to Florida. We were lucky that the publix grocery store had white hydrangeas, light pink and hot pink roses that we arranged and placed around the condo.

I found peel and stick white and gold wallpaper from the Dollar Tree and upcycled them as placemats. I loved that the design coordinated with the striped dessert plates. Black and gold confetti sprinkled on the table was so pretty and we had a fun time having the kids pick it all up at the end of the night! Above the table was a whimsical tassel garland from Rusty Chic Décor.

On the balcony I hung a DIY balloon garland from Oh how charming, paired with metallic fringe from the party darling and a cheers banner from Rusty Chic Décor. It was the perfect backdrop for the cake and family pictures. Grandma had 6 great grandchildren at her party and it was so amazing to see them all together.

For dinner we had shrimp, artichoke spinach dip, chicken pastries, meatballs, and vegetables. The cake was topped with glittery gold 90 candles. We indulged in the peanut butter chocolate cake after we sung to happy birthday.
