Party Recap

Tyler is a 4th of July baby, so I thought it was fitting to incorporate some red, white, and blue into his 1st birthday party. Rather than an Independence Day theme though, we went with one of my favorites and asked guests to sail on by for Captain Tyler's Nautical 1st Birthday party!

Party Highlights

  • What People Ate

We catered from Chaco's and had 2 taqueros serving up delicious pollo, carne asada, and carnitas tacos. Couldn't forget the necessary sides of rice, beans, chips, salsa, and guac either!

  • What People Drank

We had a drink station set up with non-alcoholic punch, sangria, iced tea, and lemonade. We also had a large variety of beers and cold bottled waters as well. The essentials for a hot summer day!

  • Desserts

The birthday boy had his very own strawberry/vanilla buttercream smashcake from Icing on the Cake, while guests were treated to vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry shortcake cupcakes from Kara's Cupcakes. We ordered some gluten-free cupcakes for our GF guests too. We had the Karavan stop by and park in front of the house to serve guests cupcakes. It was such a fun treat!

  • Party Favors

The "Catch of the Day," or two catches to be exact. Gummy Sharks and Swedish Fish. We also had Rice Krispie sailboats.

  • Activities / Games

Welcoming our guests, both big and small, was an awesome pirate ship bounce house with a slide and basketball hoop in front of the house. In the backyard, we had a sailboat setup for guests to take pictures in. Tyler's Ong and Ba (grandpa and grandma) built the sailboat for him, which was pretty special! We also had a table with our version of a guestbook...pieces of paper to write a message in a bottle for the birthday boy!
