Party Recap

Lions, Giraffes, and Rhinos Oh My! This Safari Baby Shower had a “Born to be Wild” theme with a modern twist. Not your typical safari color-scheme. This mod baby shower featured white safari animals with blue and espresso accents to signify that our mom-to-be was having a boy. Our guest-of-honor, Kacee, had shown us her ideas for the baby’s room and we took that inspiration and ran wild with it. White Cardboard Safari animals were in the spotlight as our major focal points.

An oversized lion’s head with a pendant banner welcoming her guests as they entered the gated entrance to the home in Boca Raton, FL along with our hand crafted themed directional sign to point the way.

Once inside the gate, guests entered the courtyard where we cleverly placed Safari themed props for photo ops such as binoculars, a white Safari hat, and gloves. We also created a party hashtag #KaceesBabyShower for guests to post with to group the photos from the baby shower.

As guests wandered into the house they were asked to place the books they brought onto the white narrow bookshelves we found to help build the baby’s library (he already has the nickname baby Einstein). The bookshelves were placed on either side of the double French doors that lead to the gift table and outdoor patio. Instead of traditional flowers we used mini palm centerpieces that we wrapped with baby blue giraffe print fabric. Wooden whimsical block lettering hung from the ceiling that spelt out “Born to be Wild” and “Safari Sweets.”

Naturally the next progression was to start munching and sipping. Our signature beverage station complete with “Tiger Tea,” “Lion’s Mane Mimosas,” and “Leopard Lemonade” truly made the guests at home. They sipped with their blue and espresso striped straws and then were off to the lunch station buffet of mini hors d’oeuvres including quiches, bacon wrapped sausage, spanakopita, chicken teriyaki skewers and other bites of deliciousness. A white porcelain elephant was the centerpiece of our buffet station.

Then it was time to let the games begin. Our mom-to-be was asked to first select a book from the shelves and the lucky winner was awarded a prize. Her sister, who was in charge of games, then started off with a game called Who am I? TV Families version.

How to Play: Pick your favorite all time TV Families and have your host/hosts ask your guests the “Who am I” question. For example: I was the youngest member of the Cosby family…Who am I? The person who shouted it out the fastest gets a point and whoever has the most points at the end wins. Select up to 10 questions. We always suggest using a tie-breaker question, as in this case two guests had the same amount of correct answers.

The other game she played is one of my all-time favorite games called the Right Left game. All you need is a small gift for guests to pass as the host reads this poem:

Mr. WRIGHT prepared to take Mrs. WRIGHT RIGHT to the hospital as she just went into labor. As he LEFT in the car, he turned RIGHT out of the driveway. He had to go RIGHT back home because he LEFT Mrs. WRIGHT at home. They both got in the car on the LEFT side as the RIGHT side door wouldn't open. Mr. and Mrs. WRIGHT again LEFT for the hospital, turning RIGHT out of the driveway. An argument occurred about the RIGHT turn, as Mrs. WRIGHT said that Mr. WRIGHT should have turned LEFT. Mr. WRIGHT kept insisting that he was absolutely RIGHT, but Mrs. WRIGHT kept insisting that the hospital entrance was on the LEFT. Two blocks away after another LEFT turn they discovered they had LEFT Mrs. WRIGHT’s overnight bag at home. So they made a LEFT turn, then a RIGHT to go back home to where they had LEFT the bag. As they turned RIGHT on to their street, Mrs. WRIGHT said "Let's just go RIGHT to the hospital and send someone else RIGHT to the house for the fact that we LEFT the bag on the couch". They went LEFT at the next block and turned RIGHT back around. Finally at the hospital Mr. WRIGHT pulled up to the front where he LEFT his wife to go RIGHT in. Inside the hospital they wheeled Mrs. WRIGHT away. “Where is my wife? I only LEFT her for a minute!” Exclaimed Mr. WRIGHT. A nurse rushed him RIGHT down the hall, they made a LEFT turn, then a RIGHT, and a LEFT turn again. Mr. WRIGHT, found Mrs. WRIGHT already in delivery. But he then realized that he had LEFT the video camera in the car. RIGHT away he ran out of the room and back to the car. Not only had he LEFT the camera but he had LEFT the lights on too. Mr. WRIGHT wasted no time, her ran RIGHT back to his wife’s room. As Mr. WRIGHT walked in all he heard was screams from his wife because he had LEFT her room and was nowhere in sight. I’m sure you can guess what happened next. As Mrs. WRIGHT had the baby Mr. WRIGHT passed out on the floor. But when he came to he got a shock once more. For there he saw Mrs. WRIGHT embracing their new little bundles of joy. With two babies on her LEFT and one on the Right, Mrs. WRIGHT turned to her husband and said “there is one thing LEFT to do, I think we should name these WRIGHT babies, how about you?

After the games, it was time for everyone’s favorite part…dessert. This wasn’t just any ordinary dessert table, at Parties with Style we specialize in over-the-top Dessert Tables. A white hooped mosquito net draped over Kacee’s 8 ft dessert table as a canopy over the white lion, rhino, and elephant centerpieces placed on wheat grass platforms. This Safari Themed Dessert Table featured a variety of cleverly named Safari Sweets such as Giraffe Sticks (cake pops) and Mud Pies (chocolate/Oreo mousse). No detail was spared in this elaborate set up adorned with blue and espresso tulle, candy wrappers, and decorative accents. We offered a selection of mini indulgences, parfaits, cake pops, cupcakes, meringues and even a candy buffet.

After the presents were opened and all of the Ohhh’s and Ahhh’s were done it was time to say goodbye. Guests were directed to the white bookshelves where they picked up their baby shower favors. They were personalized Safari Themed glass milk bottles that thanked everyone for attending Kacee’s Baby Shower and for being a part of this special day. Guests then returned to the dessert table and candy buffet to fill the empty milk bottle favors with candy before the departed.

We were so overjoyed to be a part of Kacee’s special day and honored that she chose Parties with Style as her Baby Shower Event Planner.
