Boho Safari First Birthday

Hi there! My name is Karen Haig. I’m a wife & mama to my beautiful baby boy. I graduated college from the New York Fashion Institute, so I’ve always had an eye for design. For many years, I worked as a visual artist. Now I concentrate on event planning and balloon design.

When it was time to start planning my son’s First birthday party, I knew I wanted to stick with neutrals. I’ve also been in love with all things boho lately. So it just made sense to choose a boho safari theme!

To create a balloon garland, I used neutral colors with a touch of baby blue and animal print balloons for a POP. I also designed a balloon hoop (which is available for rent) with colors that reminded me of a tiger.

I worked with some great local vendors. For the safari animal props, I used @bigmamaspartyrentals Together with @thetreatshopny designed an amazing Safari themed three tier cake, cookies, chocolate covered apples and cheese cake shooters. For the centerpieces, I worked with @bklynbloom to create the perfect floral arrangement for our theme. I added the pampas grass on the balloon design, as well as the centerpieces to give the event that boho vibe. I’m so in love with all of these amazing photos @vanessajoy captured.

It was a magical day fit for my safari king.
