Boho Lion King Party

Hakuna Matata, what a wonderful day to celebrate Jacob turning four! My son loves the Lion King and I thought Hakuna Matata “no worries” was the perfect theme for an end of summer Birthday party. To make the party unique I chose to put a boho spin with a colorway including orange, ivory and mocha brown.

Guests arrived to the tunes of the Lion King soundtrack. We used pandora and a speaker to play the music. The party activities included getting a temporary Lion King tattoo and swimming in the watering hole pool. The stunning decorations hung along the party patio was comprised of a DIY color block balloon garland, a Happy Birthday Banner, and coordinating fabric garland.

The table was dressed with confetti, a handcrafted dried floral centerpiece and DIY painted acrylic sign. Each place setting had a monstera leaf placemat, lion king napkin, taupe cutlery, terra cotta dinner plate, natural palm leaf plate, and circle of life punch.

The Grub Station was the perfect play on words for a Lion King party food table. Complete with a DIY fringe backdrop, grub station burlap banner, fabric garland, boho basket, DIY tassel wood bead garland, dried florals, hakuna matata printable, and confetti. Food included a lion vegetable tray, slimy yet satisfying pasta salad, animal crackers, grub candy worms, and pulled pumbaa. Each guest indulged in adorable lion cupcake. All food was prepared by my talented husband!

DIYs

Wood Bead Tassel Garland: I made yarn tassels, strung wood beads on jute twine and tied the yarn tassels on. Tutorial is on @rustychicdecor Instagram.

Plastic Table Cloth Fringe Backdrop: I used @ohhowcharming tutorial to create this. I bought 9 table cloths, 3 of each color. I cut 2 inch strips and looped onto plastic white fencing and then trimmed them to give a ton of texture.

Balloon Garland: Qualatex balloons were purchased from Amazon and assembled using balloon tape from Party City. I used an assortment on 9 inch, 11 inch and 36 inch balloons.

Acrylic Signs: I purchased acrylic sheets from Hobby Lobby and painted them with acrylic paint. My husband made wood stands for them. Tutorial is on @rustychicdecor Instagram.
