Super Bowl Birthday Party
ByParty Recap
When you've got a birthday that coincides with the Super Bowl, you embrace it and make the most fun football party ever! It started with a large food table, because let's face it, we're here for the food {and commercials!}. I used a grass turf and chalkboard theme to tie everything through the event. I love the large Touch Down backdrop over the grass fabric. Using real turf strips as a runner made it textural and fun.
For the menu, as a "Healthy Hostess" I mixed up the finger foods {which are a MUST for any viewing party} with healthy and fun foods. Adding cute themed food labels really makes an ordinary dish, like veggie sticks way more fun!
I also set up a concession stand close to the living room with a drink bar, bagged chips, and a few easy to grab appetizers like wrapped hoagie sandwiches, and pigs in a blanket. Popcorn is another easy munchie to have available through the whole event.
To keep people occupied and interested the whole time {football games are LONG y'all!} we played Commercial BINGO with fun cards available in my Etsy shop and chocolate footballs. It was fun and tasty!
You don't need much decor or other activities when the main event is a football game. Just make sure to light the candles and honor your birthday star after the half-time show!
Party Highlights
-
What People Ate
We had lots of options for great food! I always try to balance out the party food with healthier options, enough protein, and a nice selection of vegetables! - Hoagie Sandwiches - Pigs in a Blanket - Guac Chips and Salsa - Buffalo Chicken Dip - Tortellini Skewers - Veggie Sticks in Ranch - Bagged Chips
-
What People Drank
We had a wide variety of bottled sodas, water, sparkling water, and mix-ins with lemons and limes.
-
Desserts
We kept the desserts pretty simple with yummy unfrosted Boston Cream cupcakes and served up our chocolate raspberry birthday cake after the half-time show with vanilla ice cream. The cake you see in the pictures is actually FAKE : ). If you feel stressed about cake decorating you can buy a faux cake and serve up an "ugly" sheet cake. Once it's cut, no one will know the difference! For the kids we had yellow napkins wrapped around suckers to resemble "penalty flags". And of course we snacked on a few chocolate footballs during our mean game of Commercial BINGO!

Party Favors
Since we had plenty of treat options we sent home the individually wrapped Football and Stadium Cookies with people as a favor. These cookies from Jeisy's Events and Creations were the perfect finishing touch!
-
Activities / Games
Commercial BINGO was the only thing we really needed since eating and watching the game entertained everyone for hours! I did put out a few games for the kids who found themselves waning in enthusiasm for the big game.
