Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit Inspired Birthday Party and Cake
ByParty Recap
We chose a Beatrix Potter theme for Aspyn’s first birthday. We wanted to keep everything minimal and clean with the touch of a playful, feminine pattern and some beloved hand written quotes from Beatrix’s books to compliment the Beatrix Potter cake adorned with hand sculpted sugar figures and flowers.
The centerpiece to the celebration is certainly Aspyn’s first birthday cake by The Mischief Maker. Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddleduck sugar figures bring together two of Beatrix Potter’s most beloved stories and characters. Based on one of Beatrix’s illustrations, lots of sugar lettuce, radishes, radish leaves, and beanstalks make up Peter’s portion, while miniature sugar foxgloves, ferns, flowers, and greenery make up Jemima’s portion. The cake is also fluttering with sugar monarch butterflies, a dragonfly, and a bumblebee. A sugar snail sits proudly atop one of Jemima’s leaves.
We tried to incorporate other fun details into the menu with cards describing our veggie and fruit station, including whole carrots, as “rabbit food”. Utensils were nestled safely into flower pots, to reinforce the garden theme. We picked up other party supplies at Pottery Barn Kids and had a birthday sign custom made from Etsy. We also decorated with plush versions of Jemima Puddleduck and Peter Rabbit and a miniature boxed set of Beatrix Potter books.
