Party Recap

Tis’ the season to host harvest parties! Fall is one of my favorite times of year because I get to enjoy delicious pumpkin desserts and watch the beautiful falling leaves. As the season arrived, my mind was whirling with potential party options. It was a toss-up between a Halloween party and a Fall harvest party. I went with the latter. My family and I had a blast setting up this backyard party and I have so many unique details to share with you!

We live on 26 acres of land in an old farm-house built in the 1890s. We’ve always dreamed of having our own property, and when this place came up for sale we couldn’t pass it up! The kid’s now have plenty of room to roam and play and we have plenty of space for hosting parties.

To help create an inviting backyard atmosphere, my husband built us a quaint brick fireplace. I couldn’t be more happy with how everything turned out!

HARVEST PARTY S’MORE BAR
Do you love s’mores? S’mores are a classic outdoorsy snack enjoyed by young and old alike. I love to keep my guests happy, so I put together a s’mores bar full of tasty treats. Snacks included graham crackers, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Toasted Coconut Marshmallows, Regular Marshmallows, Strawberry Marshmallows, and Starbursts.

Of course I included all of your typical s’more ingredients, but I had to mix it up a bit and throw in Starbursts. As a teen, a few of my friends roasted starbursts over the fire until the outer shell caramelized and they became soft and chewy on the inside. The result was a tasty treat! For more s’more bar inspiration, take a look at my Rustic Outdoors Camping Birthday Party.

We found this metal chicken feeder in our barn and thought it was the perfect place to display our hard carved roasting sticks! We had so many rustic props around our farm place that went perfectly with my Fall harvest theme.

SNACKS AND DRINKS
We had a table full of goodies for the guests to enjoy! My party was potluck style and the guests brought so many yummy treats. I’m a pumpkin fan so I made these delicious Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins from Mel’s Kitchen Cafe, an amazing food blog. Onto the drinks! We prepared apple cider, hot apple cider and coffee. In case guests wanted to reuse their cup, I laid out a couple permanent markers to write their names.

We created a unique little display out of hay bales, pumpkins, squash, an old light, and a rustic wheel barrel. We found so many unique props in our barns and sheds. The joys of living on a county property!

PUMPKIN PATCH FUN

The highlight of the Harvest party was our pumpkin patch. The kid’s picked their very own pumpkin to bring home from our patch. They even used this cute little red wagon to carry their pumpkins to their vehicles.

Pumpkins straight from the patch are a bit dirty. We filled an old barrel with water and created a pumpkin washing station for the kids. It worked out perfectly!

Filling the Pumpkin Washing Station Harvest Party

All of our hard work and preparation paid off and our guests had an enjoyable time. From a fire fit for marshmallow roasting to a pumpkin patch for the kids, we had a little something for everyone. It was worth it to see the smiles on the kids’ faces when they got to pick their own pumpkin to bring home. The adults enjoyed conversation and snacks around the fire, which made for a wonderful evening.
