Party Recap

As soon as social distancing started, my daughter was concerned about having a birthday party. She did NOT want a drive by or another Zoom party. I knew we wouldn’t be able to have a completely normal party so I got to work brainstorming ways we could have a safe in-person party following the recommended guidelines. We limited the total number of kids to 6 including my daughter. The party took place outside in order to decrease transmission risks. Tables were placed apart so there was about 10’ between children in a large circle. We purchased items several days in advance and sanitized before touching items. Most things were from Dollar Tree-Dishpan for the garden, fairy figurines, birdhouse kit, individual paint sets, and tablecloths. We also purchased potting soil and plants (4 per child) from a nursery. The tables were covered with new table cloths. As the guests arrived, we made sure to let everyone know we were standing at least 6’ apart. We had a huge jug on hand sanitizer to use and wipes to clean dirt of hands too. The party started with the kids coming up to a table of plants individually to grab their flowers. All other materials, including food and drinks, were set at their tables before the guests arrived. We began by assembling the little birdhouses. While the glue dried, we had cupcakes. The cupcakes were purchased from Walmart’s bakery section and they had been packed individually. Next the kids planted their garden and painted their birdhouse. Each child got to take home a garden.
